so i put my bone broth on yesterday at 3pm and have has it on low for about 19 hours now. how long does it take to make bone broth?

I let mine go about 12 hours, mostly because that is convenient to my schedule. I usually let it go until I can easily crush one of the smaller bones (if it is chicken) with the edge of a spoon.

do i let it simmer til the bones dissolve? or do i then strain?

I don't let it simmer until they dissolve totally, but I do like to see if they can be crushed with a spoon. Then strain.

I am sure it is ready to strain if you have been cooking it 19 hours.
