hehe but don't worry this ones a good one...

I am starving, wanting ideas for good delicious yet healthy pregnancy foods. Preferably with a good amount of protein in them but without is just fine too.

What are you ladies just dying over out there right now?

hard boiled eggs
cheese sticks
handful of cashews
peanut butter toast
granola with milk
apples/berries/bananas (fruit in general)

I'm sure there's more.. I'm just spacing them out.

I have been eating a TON of fresh local produce: corn, roasted beets, tomatoes w/ basil and an olive oil/balsamic drizzle, cucumber salads, peaches, berries, etc... Not sure what's fresh and local in your area but eating this way has been making me feel FANTASTIC.

As far as high-protein goes, a friend made an EXCELLENT cold quinoa salad (I would be glad to track down the recipe for you if you like!) for me, and cold bean salads have been a favorite, too.

I've also been drinking cartons and cartons of coconut water, and have been enjoying homemade fresh-squeezed lemonade (usually flavored with either local berries or peaches, or - my new favorite - basil-infused syrup).

Can't wait to read others' suggestions!

Cherries and red grapes are my big things right now... they are so very very delicious.

I think for lunch I'm just going to default to a sandwich though. I have some roast beef in my fridge calling my name...

Keep the ideas coming though, Ill be hungry 5 minutes after I finish the sandwich anyway!

My latest food is a big taco salad. Made by me. Slices of tomato and avocado. Maybe some black beans and a little cheese, some corn chips atop lettuce. Any other veggies in the mix works too. With a big helping of pico de gallo or salsa. Yummmm

my best one these days is a slice of whole wheat bread or a tortilla (flour or corn) with a few slices of deli meat - I prefer turkey, but could be roast beef - and covered in shredded pepper jack cheese, which I place under the broiler just long enough to melt the cheese.

When the cheese is all melty and yummy, add guacamole and salsa (I prefer green salsa) and enjoy!

I am crazy for guacamole lately. Well. Always, but even more so now. Delish.

I'm on a rice kick. I used to hate brown rice so I always cook with white, but I started getting organic brown rice when I became pregnant this time. Suddenly I love it. Then I realized that I was always given instant brown rice which I guess is why I grew up hating it.

I especially like to put it in wraps (black beans, shredded chicken, brown rice, whatever shredded cheese I feel like using) or make fried rice (crumbled bacon, brown rice, soy sauce, peas, served alongside chicken teriyaki - or egg fried rice).

I loooove fruit smoothies. I use milk with a banana, strawberries, blueberries, or whatever else I have. Sometimes I add some yogurt. Lately the fruit flies have been driving me up the wall so I bought a bag of frozen mixed fruit for smoothies.

Oooh yeah, I do fruit smoothies most mornings, lately I like blueberry banana ones, with juice (whatever kind), vanilla yogurt and milled golden flax. If you use frozen fruit, it's all slushy, soooooo gooooood!!!!

no protein, but super yummy....blend together frozen strawberries, watermelon, a hand full of ice, and squeeze of lemon juice. You can add a dash of sweet as desired. (can you tell it's been 115 here?) According to my MW, you should eat watermelon every day to help with swollen feet/ankles.

I haven't had much of an appetite recently (I think due to stress ) but some of my pregnancy favorites are toast with crunchy pb and raw honey, big "greek" salads (feta, tomatoes, black olives, vinagrette, etc) grilled cheese with LOTS of butter on the bread, eggs over easy fried in lots of butter (and served with toast, of course!) and cheese and fruit (I especially love raw milk sharp cheddar and smoked gouda, eaten alongside whatever fresh fruit I have on hand).

Ok Nic you just made me NEED hardboiled eggs NOW.

Man, why did I click on this! I am not craving a sandwich from next door..they put the most delicious alioli garlic spread on it and avocado and red onion.

My quick snack plates I like to make myself:

-nice beefy tomato, sliced and garnished with fresh basil leaves+feta cheese

-toasted bread cut in smaller squares+hummus+grapes

-avocado-just scoop with spoon, love it when its nutty and creamy

-vanana (vanilla/banana-and yes they need to change the name, every time i see it i think vagina) yogurt from trader joes, served in a cup with fresh berries

-and this is my new favorite-totally 100% fresh and natural tomato soup, made in a blender:
throw in a couple of beefy tomatoes (cut in pieces)
half a stick of celery
fresh garlic to taste
fresh cilantro to taste

and blend! Then I heat up on stove for just a minute, and put in a dollop of sour cream and Soooo gooooood!

I LOVE blender made soups and always wanting recipes for them.(I use blendtec blender, still learning).

Yesterday I made a steak fajita that was to die for. It was really fast and easy to whip up too. I made the steak on my George Forman grill which only takes about 4 minutes. Then into a tortilla shell with shredded cheese, bell peppers, avocado slices, lettuce, sour cream and salsa. I had to make another one afterward because it was so yummy. DD loved it too. I'm big on avocados. I'll eat them just plain with a little salt and pepper. Yum. Also like rice and lentles. Easy to make and it freezes well. You can shred some cheese into it and heat it up per serving. It's a full serving of protein as well. No meat needed. For snacks I've been eating string cheese, and lots of fresh fruit. Pineapple and red grapes are my best friend right now. I've also been on a kick for radishes. Weird, I know, but I finished a whole bag of them the other day.

blendtec blenders are the best thing since...... Well fruit. We have had one for about a year and can't live without it, I stock the freezer with huge bags of local frozen berries and get huge gallon size tubs of yogurt and you never go hungry.
And I'm shocked at how much fresh spinach or kale I can but in a berry smoothies before it even starts to add a taste!

All my smoothies also include:
Huge scoop of protein powder, unflavored
Big squirt of either flax oil or a mix of fish flax and barrage, whichever I have that week
Fresh banana, really improves the thick texture
