Another Food Thread! - Page 2

I am so thrilled that my nausea/food aversions have finally lifted to the point that I can read and enjoy these food postings (earlier they had been pure torture!).

I have been loving Trader Joe's organic popcorn (comes pre-popped in olive oil) which goes great with a stick of string cheese for a quick easy snack.

My recipe for pizza bagels: split and toast a whole sprouted wheat bagel, butter lightly with Earth Balance spread (not strictly necessary, but nice), top generously with vegetable marinara sauce and a slice of cheddar cheese, put under the broiler for about 5 minutes (just enough to melt cheese).... soo good and filling!

Also nice, the aseptic pack of cream of tomato soup, poured over cooked rice and topped with shredded Parmesan cheese.

I had a lot of trouble getting enough liquid in my diet, until I started slicing juicy oranges and putting a couple slices in my tall glass of water... looks festive and refreshing, and now I'm finally getting enough fluids!

Whoever offered up the recipe for cold quinoa salad, PLEASE post it! Also, if anyone has a favorite recipe for cucumber salad, I'd love to try it, been craving it lately! We are so lucky to be pregnant in the summer, when so many lovely things are in season! Gosh, now I want some corn on the cob!

I've been a watermelon addict this pregnancy. I eat it straight but I also like to blend it with lots of ice to make a slushy drink very thirst quenching.

I love avocado slices sprinkles with soy sauce, toasted sesame oil and soMe large chunks of pink salt. Yummmmm.

Loving a the other ideas too.

I'm eating 3-4 bowls of oatmeal a day. The steel cut oats have a ton of protein and are way yummy. Plus the fiber helps me poo. I add brewer's yeast for more vitamin power and protein. I mix it with turbinado sugar, cinnamon and a small (sometimes not so small...) sploosh of cream, then sprinkle crunchies on top - nuts, granola, stuff like that.

I make a big batch oat oats every monday and nuke it thru the week. Fast snacks for the kids, too!

(If I'm feeling naughty and "need extra protien" I crumble bacon into it. I'm a terrible, terrible person. It's delicious tho)

I just discovered bircher muesli. I soak oats in apple juice overnight, then add greek yogurt, cinnamon, coconut, shredded apple, berries, nectarine & honey. Soo good!

Everyone and their good healthy foods...I feel bad! I do have to say that normally I tend to want the really healthy stuff. Lots of veggies, lean meats, and grains........but right now I want macaroni and cheese!! And whoever mentioned the Greek salad...yummy. I've noticed I've been craving Greek food a lot this pregnancy actually. Add another watermelon freak to the list too. I'm always a huge watermelon eater but this is just crazy! I think I am going to go make some mac and cheese though. From scratch with the good cheddar and butter to make it nice and creamy. My Mom grew up on a Wisconsin dairy farm so I got use to having the good stuff all the time!! So many good foods in this thread......

if you like watermelon and greek food - try this - chunk some watermelon, slice up some red onions, and mix the melon, the onions and some feta cheese. Drizzle some balsamic vinegar over the whole thing and chow down. It's weird but SOOO good. Salty, sweet, tangy... perfection.

For the past week or so, I've been craving tuna fish sandwiches and chopped salads. I think it's probably been at least a year, maybe two, since I've eaten a tuna sandwich (other than this week!)

Fresh fruit... splurged on some organic cherries and nectarines--and was tempted to eat them all and not share with the kiddies. (Bad Mom! But I did end up sharing )

Whole grain toast with peanut butter and a glass of skim milk is one of my favorite breakfasts. I also like 3-4 minute eggs (the Norpro Egg Timer is fab)... sometimes with toast soldiers... sometimes with a sprinkling of Cheerios (sounds gross I know) when I'm too lazy to make toast.

Oh also... the chicken wrap suggestion... that's supper the night after tomorrow now!

plus i found a recipe for pulled-beef sandwiches that I can use the crockpot to make!

And my ever so evil (but in a good way) DH bought a chocolate cheesecake. I told him I could make one, but he told me I need a treat every now and then.

Butthead. Trying to fatten me up that's all hes doing! LOL (J/K I just think its cute how much he loves my big round belly and gets excited when he realizes its gotten bigger!)
