Sudden oversupply / overactive letdown HELP!!!

My daughter is almost 9 months old and breastfeeding has been going great for us. We had to use the shield for the first 7 1/2 months, I took supplements every once in a while to keep my supply from dwindling, but after she weaned from the sheild I stopped taking my supplements. Well, this past week my supply has been so great and my letdown has been so strong that she has to pop off the boob at least 4-6 times a feeding because she is either choking or she is trying to catch her breath and my milk goes EVERYWHERE... all over her, myself, the bed (or wherever else I am sitting)... its a mess and uncomfortable for her. I dont pump... and I just started taking regular birth control pills (I am half way through my pack today, which my LC said might cause my supply to drop)... and she only nurses on one breast per feeding.

I was wondering if anyone else had this happen to them out of the blue so far into breastfeeding and what the cause was? And also is there anything to help reduce it? Im confused lol.

TIA,
Veronica
