Coming Apart at the Seams - What Now?

We are having a rough, rough time right now. The past 3 months have just been one crappy thing happening after another. DH's car died. My car blew a (pretty new) tire & caused other damage. DH was diagnosed with early-stage melanoma. My grandmother is having bypass surgery *right now* and isn't expected to live. My father is stopping chemo treatments and probably won't live much longer. I found out today that I have a stress fracture in my foot. This is after years of meds that tanked my metabolism & caused 100 pounds in weight gain. Two weeks into cardio (6 weeks off meds!) & I can't work out for who knows how long. And on & on & on.

How do you handle these things? I have no family nearby (which adds to the stress with things happening), and though we have lots of acquaintances, few of them are people who will come to our aid if needed. I'm running on empty right now and don't know what to do.

My best advice is just to focus on the right now. Focus on the cleaning or playing with the kids or whatever you are doing, and don't think about the rest of the stuff until it needs to be thought about. Spend as much time with your Dad as you can and appreciate the time as much as you can. Put it all into perspective. Having the cars break down sucks, it's going to cost lots of money but at the end of the day they are just cars. Find what you can do in terms of fitness. Can you walk daily? Just a stroll around the block? Can you do some strength training? Can you ride a bike? Can you just do some stretches every day? Work on fixing the things you can fix, let go of the stuff that really isn't that important and focus on the now. Plus sleep.

Oh, and cry. Having a good cry really can make everything seem better.
