HCG blood test at 6.5 weeks?

This may seem like a stupid question but DS is 3 so it's been a while since I've been pregnant. I can't recall but I seem to remember getting a blood draw for HCG the day I found out I was pregnant - which I was luckily at the dr for another reason and just for s*its and giggles did a pregnancy test while I was there. Then, the next time I was in was around 8 weeks for the ultrasound.

I just called my new OB (we moved) and they usually just see pg patients around 6.5 weeks to do the ultrasound and then send you for blood work for genetic testing and HCG. When I asked, she said, if I like, I can go for the bloodwork but usually women just go after their first official appointment.

Is this normal? It's so hard to wait to confirm this once and for all for another few weeks (just got BFP Friday at 9 DPO or about).

I'm on #5 and never had an hcg blood test to confirm pregnancy. I also typically didn't go in to see the doctor until I was 9-12 weeks along.

I never did an HCG to confirm pregnancy but had one with my recent miscarriage to confirm what was going on, and then again last week with this pregnancy (my third) because I was having a neurotic, paranoid freak-out over viability.

With my old OB my first appont wasn't until 11-12 weeks, and with my current OB she sees patients for the first time at 8 weeks.

Okay, that makes me feel better to know that is the usual. I couldn't remember what happened last time around!

I am at the end of my second pregnancy and never had hcg done. I told my doctor I was pregnant this time and she said "come see me at 11-12 weeks".

When I was pregnant with DD, I went to the doctor the first time @ 21 weeks and believe it or not, they made my do a urine test to confirm the pregnancy LMAO.

I have to have multiple hcg draws and an u/s asap because I've had a previous ectopic pregnancy, but normally my OB doesn't even see you until 10-12 weeks. She doesn't routinely do early u/s, either.
