solid poops in an EBF 6 month old

My son is 6 mo, EBF (he's had a couple sips of water recently but no solid food) is suddenly having solid poops. They are still a mustard color and have gone from being typical runny poops, to slightly thick, to thicker and then today little turds. He's having an awful time getting these little poops out today, as well. I will call the Dr. tomorrow but I wanted to know if anyone had advice?

The only thing I can think is that he's dehydrated or, conversely, using his water more efficiently. It's very hot here and has been for weeks. No change in behavior. Just constipated and solid poop. I would say the change started 2 weeks ago but hasn't been really noticeable until the last couple days, today especially.

wow, that literally makes me scratch my head...i cannot imagine why...

are you 100% sure that NO ONE is giving your baby any solids?? Well meaning grandparents? dh? etc.?

yes, I am certain no one is giving him any solids since I am a SAHM and both sets of grandparents are at least 5 states away

Can you increase the number of nursing sessions in a day, and maybe increase your fluid intake? Maybe he needs more volume in the heat? (and it has been sooooooooooo hot!)

My son had hard poops from around 3 months or so on every now and then. He was so constipated, and had to strain like crazy to the point of tears to get them out. Nobody could tell me why the heck an EBF baby was constipated, but he was. I was told I was crazy, that I must be feeding him SOMETHING else, but he was only getting mama milk, and tons of it. I made enough milk to feed an army of babies.

We never did figure it out, but he got through it and hasn't had any constipation issues for a year or more now.
