Need ideas: birthday party favours for 7 year old boy

DS1 really wants to give out party bags at his 7th birthday party and I am looking for ideas. In the past, I have given art supplies and craft projects, but the things he thinks are cool now are either junkier than I like or more expensive than I am willing to spend.

Any ideas for cheap but fun things for 7 year old boys? It is a mixed gender party, but I have some ideas for the girls.

You could get a tube of animals and portion them out, books, pencils, regular legos and break them up, any kind of balls, jacks, my boys liked bubbles and sidewalk chalk although they probably wouldn't admit it now at 11 and 14...........

My friend had a 10 pack of small flashlights from Home Depot, she said it was $10 for the pack.

The kids had them out during a playdate last week and had a had such a great time playing with them. I thought they would make good party favors.
