I am pregnant with baby number three, and have been practically living off of whole, raw cow milk. Almost two years ago, through muscle testing at my NP, I tested allergic to cow dairy. I went in with a RAGING ear ache after having had ear aches my whole life. And he broke my heart telling me I couldn't drink the milk from my own cow. I would reluctantly go off, and start to feel better, and then try again weeks later to feel my earache coming back.
When my Jersey was done lactating, I went off raw milk for over six weeks. But I finally broke down and started getting milk from my Mom, who also has a Jersey. I thought I would have instant ear aches. I was prepared to deal with it, being stubborn and loving my raw milk. Surprisingly, I am now drinking over half a gallon of raw milk almost every day(have been for a while now), and I feel GREAT. No ear ache. No congestion. No stomach aches.
So I've read a bit about the A1 and A2 story on cow genetics. It seems very relevant to me. Having had raw milk from many different cows in my lifetime, and only being successful with a certain few, it seems that there is definite stuffing in the theory. I grew up on a Jersey/Hereford(a beef breed) cross raw milk. Ear aches. We then switched over in my late teens to a pure bred Jersey. No ear aches. Moved from my parent's home and stopped drinking raw milk, and limited consuming most milk products, but would get occasional ear aches. Moved back near my parent's after my son's birth and went back to drinking milk from the same cow they had in my teens. No ear aches. Met my hubby, went vegan for a year. No ear aches. Got a farm and our own cow(no longer vegan) and began experiencing ear aches again. Switched to milk from my Mom's cow(good old Sasha, cow from my teens) and NO ear aches. Accidentally got slipped milk from my Mom's Holstein/Jersey cross a few times and had minor flare-ups. These went away when I told my Mom I ONLY WANTED SASHA'S MILK!
So I am thinking that Sasha must be an A2 cow. I've read that Jerseys are approximately 50% A2. Sadly, I think my own Jersey falls into the A1 bracket. I have started drinking milk from Sasha's daughter, and have had no problems... She must have gotten her Mom's A2 genes. When all of my siblings and I were VERY young, my parents raised goats because none of us could tolerate cow dairy at the time. So it all makes sense to me, after having experimented my whole life.
What are your experiences with raw milk from different breeds of cows? Do you put any stock in the A1/A2 theory? From those of you who conquered former dairy sensitivities; what does your raw milk source look like? Just interested to hear other peoples experiences and to see if they coincide with A1 and A2 compatibilities/incompatibilities.

IMO its a load of crock to sell a testing kit (cause' isn't there like only one company that sells the darn things? And it costs a butload to do.... thus hardly anybody has botherd to do the testing...) and certain farms' milk over others/breeding stock from different cows.
