10mo doesn't know his name - is this normal?

He's 10months old now and is supposed to be able to respond to his name right? Sometimes when we call his name he turns to look at us, but he also does if we call out different names. And sometimes he just doesn't seem to hear us. Is this ok for this age? He's normal in every other way WRT milestones: He's cruising, calls me mama (doesn't know his dad's name yet though), hugs us and his toy dog, makes a lot of eye contact with everyone, babbles, points, etc.

But the name thing...

Is this ok?

I rarely call DS by his name: Gabe or Gabriel. lots of other people do, and I don't think he really realizes that is his name. He responds more to my voice than whatever I call him. He does seem to answer to the following: Pumpkin, Peanut, and Bobblehead.

Though, he is only 8 months. I think it is still pretty normal. He'll get there!

I'm thinking surely it's normal especially if he seems fine in all other areas and is meeting his milestones otherwise. My daughter learned her name quite a while back but I'm a first time mom so IDK what is "normal" and what isn't..lol! That said, I say her name a LOT so that may be part of the reason she learned it so early.
