Mediation today

H decided to move out a few months ago and wants a divorce. I'm due with #2 in September. Trying to get H to agree to do a legal separation agreement before #2 comes has been ridiculous. He wants to do it ourselves but hasn't put any effort into it and I need to have something on paper for my own piece of mind and I refuse to do all the work. We have to be seperated for a year before getting a divorce, so I really need an agreement in place with regards to the house and CS, etc.

Going to a counselor and she recommended a mediator. Finally got H to agree to go and our orientation session is this afternoon, although he still hasn't agreed to pay for half.

Just feeling nervous and sad. H is taking DS on an adventure this morning to Port Discovery (science center kind of place downtown) and I'm at work collecting documents and feeling anxious.

Not sure why I'm even posting. Blah.

I'm sorry you're going through this, but you may feel (marginally) better when things are a little more organized and less up in the air.

aw, you're posting for support, which is smart! i'm sorry he's dragging his heels and you're the one left with the burden of getting this done.

can the mediator explain to stbx that each party is required to pay half? or at least that it makes sense financially for your stbx to do so, because mediation is cheaper than a drawn-out court battle?

Sadly, until you're "rid" of him, legally speaking, you may have to do most of the legwork to get what you want. However, mediation can be great in getting several points across to your STBX. Somehow they listen a bit better when a total stranger tells them how unreasonable they are being...dunno why that is.
