Book about instincts ?

I would like to find a book for children age 9 and under that discusses animals' natural instincts to do various things - blend with their surroundings, increase their body fat and hibernate, store food for winter, migrate, play dead, distract a potential predator from their young, etc. I am having a hard time finding a book that includes this with my Amazon searches...if anyone can recommend a book, I would appreciate it ! Thanks !

Have you checked out the Let's Read and Find Out series?
I know they have a book called How birds Find their Way, another about camouflage and some more animal specific ones.

Bobbie Kalman has a book called Why do animals do that? and another called What are these animals doing? which might be a good place to start. Her books are usually well done.

Have you tried searching your library under Animal Behaviour? There are tonnes of books listed in my library using that search word which may be what you are after.

good luck!
Karen
