Rotavirus & Pig Virus

I was planning to follow the Dr. Sears Alternative Schedule. When I took my baby to the pediatrician for her 2 month old vaccines in June (DTaP-Daptacel and Rotavirus-RotaTeq), he never informed me of the pig virus contamination issue - and somehow I missed it in all my pre-appointment research. So my baby got the first dose of RotaTeq. She ended up with awful diarrhea for 3 days (he didn't warn us of that happening either).

I feel awful that I allowed my child to receive this vaccine, and appalled that the pediatrician did not mention the pig virus issue before vaccinating my child. Now I will be refusing the second dose (and possibly seeking another pediatrician).

Does anyone know of any adverse affects from stopping rotavirus vaccine administration after one dose?

It is not possible to have an adverse effect from a vaccine dose not given.

I agree that you should find another pediatrician. He didn't even follow the FDA's recommendation to warn parents of the contamination. Personally, I would confront him about it.

Thanks. I see on the FDA website that the May 14, 2010 update states: "FDA also recommends that clinicians and public health professionals inform parents of the findings of PCV DNA or PCV in rotavirus vaccines, and that there is no evidence that these findings pose a safety risk in humans."

Nope, I didn't give an informed consent. Frustrating. I will be asking him about it, thanks.
