Cloth wipes are suddenly musty smelling and I don't know why.

I am using the same wipes that I've been using all year, with the same wipe solution (homemade-- olive oil with a few drops of lavender/TTO blend.)

My last two batches have been really musty smelling. I've used 1 and a half bags of Rockin Green, and before that used Charlie's.

Anyone know what could be the problem?

My wipes get weird smelling if I use wipe solution in general... especially during the summer. I keep them dry and just wet them with plain water from the sink as needed right before I change a diaper.

Do you have one of the recalled bags of rockin green? Maybe that is the problem.

Is your house a lot hotter than usual? Heat makes everything biological happen more quickly -- the mustiness is probably the beginning of something growing in the solution. Maybe temporarily switch to using running water? You might also want to rinse the container in a weak bleach solution.

I cleaned the wipe warmer really well with a bit of bleach. I don't think I had a bad bag of Rockin Green, although I did just use a bag of Hard Rock. I've been using the Classic, though, lately.

It's so weird because I've never had this problem before. I'm wondering if it's my homemade wipes solution...maybe too much olive oil staying in the wipe and not washing out?
