Someone planning #1 wants to read about AP, book suggestions?

What's the best book/books to recommend someone not familiar with AP, but who wants to read up on it because I've talked so much about it and they are planning on trying for a baby?
Probably shouldn't be the most "hardcore" books, but a light intro.
I'm planning on sending them a link to this place as well, but they asked for a book or two.

Dr. Sears' "The Baby Book" is my go-to shower present. It's extremely accessible for mainstreamers, and chock full of great info.

I think it's one of the best entry-level AP books there is.

I second The Baby Book. Was the first one for me though I would have naturally been AP anyway.

i agree with the PP about the Dr. Sears books- i read the AP book- one of my favorites and i just skimmed it. i also love Peggy O'Mara (obviously, thank you MDC). a helpful website with lots of book ideas is this:

Oh, also the Sears book might go over well, as the younger Jim Sears is the in-house ped for "The Doctors," which I was alerted to by a helpful employee at Home Depot, so for people who would otherwise be put off by our hippie dippie goofballery, having exposure to a Sears via network tv might help them get into his dad's work more easily.

I have a similar question:

My brother and his girlfriend are expecting a child in October. They are suddenly very interested in "the way [Meag and Torq] do things." (I haven't lived near them in 15 or so years, so they only have filtered information through FB, phone conversations, email and phone conversations with my father.) This is my brother's third child but his girlfriend's first. My brother was very young when his first two were born (teenager) and only has them in the summertime. I'd love book suggestions for young parents (they are in thier early 20s) looking from a very mainstream, low-income lifestyle to head a bit more towards AP/NFL. If anyone also has book suggestions on getting past the guilt/upset about the parenting choices you made in the past (brother and his teen wife did CIO, bottle-fed on a schedule that led to failure to thrive with the firstborn) that would also be helpful.

I used to recommend The Baby Book, but now, the one I give is Attached at the Heart: 8 Proven Parenting Principles for Raising Connected and Compassionate Children by Barbara Nicholson and Lysa Parker. (They're the founders of API.)

It's fabulous! It covers everything from feeding to cosleeping to babywearing to gentle discipline. There's plenty of baby stuff for new parents, plus lots of information to lay the ground for the years to come.
