Introducing myself.

Hello everyone. I was searching the web for information about adoption and I am so glad that I thought to look on mdc. I think I had an account here years ago, but I couldn't remember the log-in information. I had a heck of a time coming up with a username that wasn't already in use. I am happy to find this community that combines natural living and a wealth of information on adoption.

I am a wife to my college sweetheart, mom to an amazing (almost) 4-year-old girl, chiropractor, and so many other things. We are meeting with an adoption agency tonight to start the process of our first adoption. I am nervously excited. We have multiple reasons for choosing to adopt.

I am looking for any advice or insight about the journey of adoption. How broad-reaching is that? I will be looking over past posts on this forum, because it is obvious that there is a wealth of knowledge here.

I have had many discussions with my daughter about adopting. She is a very intelligent little girl, but I'm still not sure how much she really understands. So, any insight on that is greatly appreciated. Any book recommendations for kids? We are open to adopting a child of any race, so we have discussed that with her. She says she wouldn't care if their skin was green.

Anyway- That is my long introduction. I look forward to getting to know you all better.

We were matched with our child by sending letters to obstetricians. Let me know if you want more info on that.

Also, I wouldn't talk about the adoption much more with your little one. You could be a couple years out and that is just a long time for such a little child to wait. They don't understand the delays. They want a baby now.
