15dp trigger shot...

Hey guys, I'm new here to the forum. Just a little background info on me before I ask my question...

Hubby and I have been TTC for about 1.5 years now. I have very irregular periods and possibly PCOS (have not been formally diagnosed). Hubby is perfect.

Last month, I started my very 1st round of Clomid 50mg on CD 3-7 with an Hcg trigger waiting in the wings if I had a good follicle. I only had one follie that got to 16mm, so I didn't get my trigger. This month was my 2nd round of Clomid, this time 100mg. On CD21, my u/s showed a 19mm follie. My OB thought I might be a late ovulator, so she gave me my hcg trigger.

I POAS on 10dp trigger and it was negative, so I was told that meant the trigger was out of my system and I could start testing for a BFP.

Well, I'm now 15dp trigger (possibly 13 or 14 dpo, not quite sure when I O'd since I don't O on my own) and I'm still testing negative..

My question is.. is it possible to still get a BFP this long after my trigger, especially if I O'd late? Has anyone gotten a BFP 15 days or longer after a trigger?

I know it's hard to tell the difference between pregnancy symptoms and AF symptoms, but I've had some light cramping that comes and goes since around the time I was supposed to O. Actually, around my O time, the cramps started to get pretty bad, I thought I was about to get AF! But, they went away in a few hours. In the past, the way I know I'm about to get AF is that I start to cramp and I always get AF the same day. I've been cramping for about a week now and still no AF... any thoughts?

Hi! You might try posting on the infertility thread (I know, it's hard to post there), just because the ladies over there might have more experience with a trigger. I would guess that you might be at an earlier dpo than you think. But you should probably be getting a bfp by now...is there a chance you didn't O from the trigger? Does that ever happen?

Good luck!!

Thanks for the response! I'll be sure to post this question in the infertility forum, as well.

From what I understand, it's extremely rare to not O with a trigger. Problem is, you can't use OPK's with a trigger so I have absolutely NO idea when I O'd! All I know is when I got the trigger, which was 15 days ago. Sigh...

My 13dpo test was so super faint it could have been negative, but I am VERY much pregnant (ready to pop in about a month!) http://canyouseealine.com/hpts/5152.jpg

Granted, I didn't have a trigger shot but I don't think that matters. What matters is how many DPO you are, because trigger does not determine when implantation happens, its a certain amount of time past ovulation... you cant get a bfp until after implantation happens and your body builds up hCG... and if you are probably only 13/14dpo, yes, you can get a negative and still be pregnant. Especially if your body is building up or metabolizing the hCG slowly. (Which can be perfectly healthy!)

That's really comforting, MaerynPearl, thank you. My hope was starting to dwindle. I'm still pretty new to all of this and I just don't know what to expect.

Are there a certain number of dpo that you keep getting negatives that you just consider it a loss..? I know people say just wait for AF to show up, but I don't get AF on my own, I get it induced with Provera. Just curious if anyone has gotten a really late BFP before and how late it was.

If you don't get AF on your own, you probably are not ovulating. If you did indeed ovulate this cycle, thanks to the trigger shot, you should have af within the next 4 days (if you do not get a bfp). If neither, I would strongly suggest talking to the doctor about that... as it would say to me that the trigger shot did not cause you to ovulate.

The reason for this is when you ovulate, your body starts creating progesterone... if your body does not get the hCG to signal its pregnant (and it only needs a little, not even enough to show up on a test, to signal that you are pregnant) then the progesterone levels drop and AF comes along.

If you do not ovulate, your body does not get the progesterone and thus, you do not get AF.

If you take provera, you are basically tricking your body into thinking you have ovulated, when you stop taking it, then it tricks your body into thinking... okay I ovulated, I'm not pregnant, time to clean out and start again!

Oh! Thanks for clearing that up for me, I had no idea. So, if I'm not pregnant, I should get AF on my own this cycle, right? Hopefully, she'll stay away and I'll get my BFP. I haven't really had any pg symptoms except for the mild cramping and I've been pretty fatigued. Matter of fact, I don't recall having any pg symptoms except for cramping when I had gotten pg almost a year ago (unfortunately, it ended in m/c at 7 wks), so hopefully this is it for me.

I had cramping with this pregnancy, I dont cramp with AF (not since I stopped using tampons at least) but had such severe cramping on 15dpo that I was convinced I was NOT pregnant! But AF was due on 14dpo lol...

See, that's why I'm kinda thinking that this cramping is different. Any other time right before I've gotten AF, whether it be on my own or medically induced, I always cramp and then get AF the same day. I've been cramping on and off for over a week now. I try not to read too much into it, but sometimes you just "know" that something is different. Guess I'll just keep testing! Thanks so much for your help.

So, I can't seem to stop myself from testing everyday, lol. I tested this morning and still negative. Sigh... I have a new symptom today, though. I am extremely moody. I know that's an AF symptom, but could the moodiness and cramping be a sign of pregnancy, too?

Well, just talked to my doctor and she's calling me in another round of Clomid 100mg and also Provera to induce my period. I really thought this was the time... Thanks everybody for the help and advice.
