One year old having trouble relaxing on potty

We've just got started on early potty learning/late ec a couple of weeks ago, and had a very good start. We began with sitting on the potty first thing in the morning and after naps and got a fair number of pees that way, and, no doubt helped because she was always fastidious about a clean diaper, she has begun signalling about 50% of the time she needs to pee after only two weeks.

The problem is that except for those first few days she won't pee in the potty. She signals she needs to go, she sits on the potty reasonably happily, but nothing happens. Then very shortly after she stands up (she has been walking since 10 months and can easily get off the potty by herself) she pees on the floor.

I suspect the problem is that she doesn't relax on the the potty. We've tried toys, reading to her, stroking her legs and shoulders. We've tried potty in the bathroom, living room, outside on the deck. We tried a toilet seat insert in case going on the big potty like Mama and Dad would help. No go. She will sit for 2-3 minutes happily, but no peeing happens till she stands up.

I feel like she totally gets it except for this one thing. (She's been in disposables since birth, my husband is the sahp and that was what he was comfortable with, but we have had her in training pants when at home for the last two weeks, and her signals are clear, she points at the potty, picks up the potty, or stands by the bathroom door if someone is in there. No asl sign yet, though she has a few others.)

Any suggestions?

Second question: this morning I put her in the tub after sitting on the potty and let her pee there because it was easier to clean up. My husband expressed some worry that is would just teach her to pee in the bath and make things worse. Is this a potential problem?

Third question: we haven't caught any poop yet, mainly because she won't poop unless she can squat really low down, lower than even the Bjorn little potty will let her. Basically she poops with her bottom about 2 centimeters off the ground. Any thoughts about how to handle this?

I don't have much time right now, but have a suggestion for your second question. If you put the potty in the bathtub and run a little warm water ove her feet while she's sitting there, she will probably pee. We did this for a few days when my DS1 was potty learning, just so he'd get the idea, and it worked like a charm. :-)

Thanks for the idea, we'll give that a try. She actually managed the morning pee in the potty today, but the rest have all gone on the floor. I suppose she just might need more time to figure it out.

Maybe if she doesn't pee right away you could stand her up quickly and then set her back down on the potty. This works sometimes for my dd when i know she has to go but hasn't. Or you could try "tickling" her tail bone area. A toy that worked great for us for a while was a kazoo. it was enough distraction so she could relax and go potty but not enough that she was concentrating too much on the toy.

the thing that really got my daughter to understand that she was supposed to pee on the potty was for us to go with her. she was the same age, and if I sat on the toilett and peed, she would pee on her potty. she's 15 months now, and has only stood up to pee once in the last month. haven't got her pooping on the potty yet, but it's because she doesn't cue that as well, so we never know when it's going to happen.
