How often do you cook something 'new'?

I'm just curious how often you make something 'new' that you've never made before... for me, its almost always at least once or twice a week. I love to cook, and love trying new things and paging through cookbooks and finding new recipes to try. Don't get me wrong, I have a repertoire of stuff that we like and I make frequently (tacos, spaghetti, penne w/ sausage, pizza, stir fry, general tsos' chicken, chicken parmesan, etc), but it gets boring to just make the same stuff all the time yk?

SO! How often do you try something new? Oh! And what are your favorite 'new' cookbooks right now that your trying stuff out of? I'm mostly cooking 'new' stuff out of bon appetit, and bon appetit: fast easy fresh So far, most everythings been delicious!

It is probably once a week for me. Sometimes I do new dishes all week, other times I get lazy and stick with the tried and true. I am confident in my cooking skills so I have no fear in trying something new. I have friends that will not try anything new because the husband or kids might not like it. That line of thinking doesn't fly with me.

One of my favorite websites for recipes is Simply Recipes. http://simplyrecipes.com/

Whenever I see something there that I want to try, I print it off and put it in the "to do" pile.

Right now, I am trying to work through a stash of whole chickens and I am doing a different recipe each week for the chickens alone.

It's about once a week. I subscribe to Eating Well and the recipes in there are enough to keep me occupied from issue to issue.

Probably once a week here too. We love cooking and trying new things in this house.

Every summer we live with my family and I do all the cooking. Last summer I was a nut and made something different and new every. day. of summer. I was crazy and totally burnt out by fall. lol Now I try to keep it to once or twice a week.

I don't really enjoy new recipes most of the time. Sometimes, I'll do something new 2-3 times in a week, and then I'm back to old standbys for a few months. Sometimes, I'll do something new every week or two. There are so many factors involved.

This last year, I've had a new baby, and I haven't done many new recipes at all. I think I'll probably gear up to try some new soups and things in the fall, though.
