I could write your post almost word for word. I am 26, as well, and we have been TTC for nearly 3 years. We will (hopefully) start our first IUI in August, due to my DH's morphology issues. We will not be doing Clomid, though, at least not this time.

I say we will hopefully be doing IUI, because I very well may be ovulating at the start of school (I am a teacher). If that happens to be the case, we'll have to wait until September. We were supposed to do it this month, but I didn't ovulate, which hasn't happened in the 6 years I've been charting/paying attention to my cycles.

Anyway, welcome!

Hi ladies although I'm not new to MDC I am new to the infertility thread.

I am 34 and DH is 34. We have been trying for #2 for more than 15 months now. I have been tested (bloodwork,HSG, lap) and everything is normal. DH may have some slight sperm issues.

So this being said, we have decided to have our first IUI this cycle. My RE has me taking femara+follistim then trigger with Ovridel. This should all get underway as soon as my cycle begins at the end of next week. Would love to compare notes with you ladies.

I'll admit, kinda sqeamish about the shots.

We're starting our IUI next cycle as well (maybe early September). Sorcha, it sounds like you might not have had a full workup before starting IUI? You would definitely want to get an HSG beforehand. (If your tubes are blocked, then IVF is the only option.) Especially if you are paying out of pocket, you want to make sure there is a good chance!

Anybody still there? I just started my Follistim injects last night and although I was terrified, it was pretty painless.

I have an RE appointment on Monday to check progress of follies and bloodwork.

How is everyone else doing?

Why would your mom be so against an iui? Good luck!

I'm going to be starting with lupron/follistim later in September. I've done 5 iui's with clomid or femara but this will be my first time doing injectibles. I'm making dh do the shots though, I'm the one that has to do everything else. Is anyone else doing crinone or prometrium?

I just did day two of my follistim injection. Way easier than I thought! Practically painless and I am a complete chicken when it comes to needles. I have a prescription for crinone that I will use after IUI.

IUIs are great! The only times I've conceived have been with an IUI. Good luck!

This makes me feel hopeful! Thank you!

Sorry I haven't been around. We did our very first IUI on Tuesday! So I am now 4dpo. It was very uneventful. Felt like a pap smear. I almost feel like it's our first time trying again, as it's constantly on my mind. That scares me, because I think I will cry if it doesn't work, and I haven't cried in awhile (about this). I think I've gotten used to the idea that, oh, my period is going to start, of course, so this kind of shakes things up.

The plan is, if this doesn't work, we will try one more natural cycle and then move on to Clomid after that. We have to pay fully out of pocket, so it adds up. If IUI doesn't work after four or five rounds total, we are going to have to take a long break before pursuing anything else. We won't be trying injectables. They are just way too expensive.

I know exactly how you feel. After trying and and being so let down for so many months I finally have a little hope again and for IUI not to work would just crush me. I am on injectables and will be giving this IUI thing a go for the next three cycles. IVF is not an option for DH and I so I feel this is our only chance. Best of luck to you! you get your BFP.

Subbing and sending lots of because I'll probably be doing the same in a few months
post #12 of 14
I just wanted to update to say that I got my BFP! It was a few days ago, and I still can't believe it! First IUI and natural at that. I got my betas back. 16dpo was 456, and 18 dpo (today) was 930, so looking good so far!

Even though I've never experienced it, I'm so afraid of losing the baby. I didn't realize how afraid I would be. I think it's because we've been waiting 3 years for this.

I so hope you ladies will be able to join me soon!

Congrats, Anne! I go in for my IUI tomorrow and the next day. I have a 23mm, 17mm, and 10mm follicle (yesterday) but a thin lining so we're hoping that will grow. Trigger tonight!
