Way too early for name advice, asking anyway

We've decided on Augustus Samuel for a boy, and DBF wants Peirce for a girl. I've agreed ONLY if I get to pick a very feminine middle name for her. Because the last name is only one syllable, I think the middle needs to be 3 or more syllables.

What I like:

Peirce Julianna
Peirce Annabelle
Peirce Arabella

Problem, DBF hates them all. Any other super-girly, 3 syllable middle names?

I strongly suggest BabyNameWizard.com, I have been having way too much fun with it. Click on NameFinder and you can search by beginning/ending letter, popularity, number of syllables, type of name (contemporary, traditional, eclectic, New Testament, nickname, etc).

How about...

Peirce Addison
Peirce Adrienne
Peirce Alanna
Peirce Anastasia
Peirce Annaliese
Peirce Bernadette
Peirce Daniela
Peirce Deanna
Peirce Dominique
Peirce Abigail
Peirce Maricella
Peirce Iliana or Eliana
Peirce Rosalia (I've heard this pronounced as rose-ALL-ee-ah and also rose-ah-LEE-ah)
Peirce Serafina or Sarafina
Peirce Katerina
Peirce Tatiana
Peirce Vanessa
Peirce Valerie
Peirce Lillian

IMO, there's no such thing as too early for baby names From your list, I'm assuming you like names ending in A, so I included a lot of those. Have you asked him what kinds of feminine names he does like? Knowing his "style" would help narrow down the choices a bit.

Adrianna
Amelia
Alexandra
Angelica
Cassandra
Cecilia
Elena
Emmaline
Gabrielle/Gabriella
Genevieve
Isabella
Jacqueline
Josephine/Josefina
Lilliana
Nicolette

Well our DD is named Marian (after John Wayne - Marion Morrison is his real name) and Peirce is after Hawkeye Peirce (MASH). His other suggestions were Dobie, Ford, and Duvall. (J Frank Dobie - author, John Ford - director, Robert Duvall, Actor)

Yes - those are his suggestions for GIRL names.

The ONLY "girly" suggestion he's liked so far was when I jokingly suggested Nymphadora (Tonks, from Harry Potter)

Y'all have to help me! LOL

Going to check out that name wizard thing!

PS Sihaya - Emmaline is my middle name! IT was my first suggestion and got a big fat NO.

I don't have any suggestions to add to the great ones you've already gotten, but I just wanted to gently point out that the correct spelling is "Pierce." Great choice, by the way!

Perhaps you could explain to him the difference between last names and first names. If that fails, perhaps address why he needs to name girls after (male) celebrities while boys get to be their own person...

I honestly think that trying to balance that name with an ultra-feminine middle name makes it worse. If you are going to subvert gender through a first name, you should own up to it, not apologize for it right after.

That being said, I would go for the common spelling "Pierce"

totally agree 100%

there's something up with him refusing to name his daughter anything but a male-celebrity-name... and while you were able to get around it and give your first daughter a girl name that happened to also be the name of a male celebrity... there's something up with that that needs to be addressed.

Shes not a cat, shes a human being and deserves to be named as such.

I think if you are going to have her first name be Pierce, she should have a girly middle name. Perhaps, later she will choose to be called that. I would be mad if my parents named me two boy (or genderless) names, because I'm pretty girly and I wouldnt want to be confused for a boy all the time. I would give her a middle name like Elizabeth. That way there are 20 nicknames she can pull off of it if she decides she doesnt want to be called Pierce. (All though, that violates my rule about a middle name not beginning with the last letter of the first name)

Thanks for the spelling correction, I'm terrible at I-before-E - mess it up every time.

He REALLY wants a boy, if you haven't guessed that. We have a boy name picked out. As for Marian's name - I'm obsessed with Robin Hood and have been since I was 13 so I people ask ME, she's named after Maid Marian - if you ask Dad, she's named after John Wayne.

I really like the name Pierce for a girl, I think it's pretty, and want to pattern her name after my own - my name is Evin Emmaline - a boy's name followed by a feminine middle.

Marian was named Katharine Belle until about 6 weeks before she was born, when MIL had a student named Katherine die in a terrible car crash.

My DBF is a filmmaker and loves to use movie names - and my DS (From a prior relationship) is named after a movie and a TV show so the pattern is there! (Tristan Alexander is my son, Marian Harper is my daughter).

We both REALLY like Maureen (Maureen O'Hara) but it's so close to Marian, we don't feel comfy with it. Lauren is another one we're kicking around (Lauren Bacall)

Huh. I guess I don't see what a girly middle name will do for a girl named Pierce. No one will know her middle name except family, so it won't balance out a name with such masculine, aggressive and lastname connotations.

I'd vote for Lauren!

Like the PP stated, if, when she's older, she doesn't feel like a Pierce, she can be Julianna or Juniper or Isabelle. Or whatever.

Our last name is very... manly (LOL) so I do worry that Pierce might make her sound like a spin off of Law & Order

ETA - I'm only 7 weeks and we have NO idea if we're having a boy or a girl - I just always pick the names well, well in advance because it's my favorite part.
For a boy we've picked Augustus Samuel. If I had a gun to my head right now and had to pick, I'd say this is a boy.

I say Lauren too, very nice classic beautiful name tied to a gorgeous and talented actress!

oh, the trend of naming girls cute male names. I don't know. I would definately go with a feminine middle name. How 'bout Elizabeth? That gives the kid a lot of girly options.

FWIW my fictional future little girl is currently named Teddy Marie.

I was recently fired by a "betsy" so all forms of elizabeth are out. She ruined the name for me.

Pierce? As in To cut or pass through with or as if with a sharp instrument; stab or penetrate.?? For a dear child's name?

Thankfully you have lots of time to reconsider. Many other movie star type names that are lovey. Lauren is beautiful.

Pierce?

I'd worry that someone would tease her all the time about it.

Not to mention the sexual connotations that young men could come up with when faced with a very pretty Pierce. "I'll be happy to pierce her" That sort of thing. Don't underestimate how ribald young men can be.
not so fond of it for a boy or girl. wonder how she would view the name when she is older. i also thought about what teenage boys will tease her about when she is older. but if you are set on it, pierce is better then peirce.

I keep on thinking "I before E except after c...."
