Mulling over ideas...

Hello, I hope you all don't mind if I pop in to ask a few questions while I am figuring things out...
We will soon be moving to France (from the UK) for a couple of years. While we are there I am considering home educating my 3 year old DS. I have not thought further ahead than the next 2 or 3 years, but I am assuming that at some point he will attend school. I may change my mind on that over time, but for now I can't see myself homeschooling through the high school years.
So lets assume that I homeschool him to start off with, and then he starts school aged 6 or 7... Do you think it will be tougher for him to start school at that age? What can I do to make the transition easier for him? Maybe it will be easier for him being older?
He is such a gentle mama's boy, and although he is very sociable he has never really been away from me. I worry that my motives for homeschooling are founded in over-protectiveness, rather than in his best interest
Sorry this is so vague, I am still trying to figure it all out in my head! Any input would be gratefully received

I think you should go with your instincts on this one. Don't worry to much about over protectiveness or such things...he will let you know if he needs something to change.

I definitely don't think he will struggle with starting school later...there are countries where that is the norm. Unless of course you plan to send him to school in French when he's 6 or 7 and he doesn't know the language. In that case there might be real advantages to exposing him at a younger age.

Good luck!
