Gift for new nursing mom?

My semi-mainstream-getting-more-crunchy-everyday friend just had her first baby last week. I have made them a baby quilt, but wanted to mail it to her with some things for momma, too, and am thinking some nursing related things would be good. She registered for a nursing wrap and some other things, I also wanted to get her some good salve/ointment to help make her more comfortable. Recommendations?? Thanks!!

Maybe the Womanly Art of Breastfeeding?

I second the Womanly Art of Breastfeeding, contact infor for their local LLL (look it up on the internet), maybe some Lansinoh cream (sp?), a nice water bottle, and/or a magazine subscription- maybe to Mothering.....

I dunno... I never really needed ointment, though I buy a tube of lansinoh. You may also want to get her a nursing necklace. I dunno, it just feels like so much nursing gear is negative (although it might be useful!). A cover so no one sees you, ointment since it will hurt, tea for your low supply, a big book because it's difficult to do.

All of those things may be neccessary, but I don't htink they really celebrate nursing, yk?

I found the Nursing Mother's Companion to be most most go-to reference book. If she's going to pump on a regular basis I'd suggest an easy expressions zip up the front hands free pumping bra. That thing saved my life. I also loved my Booby Tubes. Maybe a set of nice nursing pj's?

I think the Womanly Art is very positive in it's presentation of how wonderful bfing is.... not negative at all.... and it gives encouragement for the tough days.....
