knitting nursing pads?

Anyone done this?

Last time I loved loved loved my lanawool xstra pads- so much so that I wore the same 2 pairs for over a year straight- even through horrid summer heat. Anyway- I kind of shrunk them and loved them huge for winter. So rather than drop $60+ on 2 new pairs- I was thinking about knitting my own? I have a random skien and a half of malabrigo- that should be soft enough right? Anyone have some insight? I was thinking just a big circle with a smaller circle sewn on to make them extra thick. And just knit them extra tight- so like worsted on size 4s or something.

Here are some patterns from Ravelry. I'm thinking about making some too, although I never really leaked much.

Why wool for nursing pads? Antimicrobal?

esa? the wool is awesome- super absorbant- but not wet feeling, hardly ever have to wash them, conform to your shape, keeps your boobs nice and toasty warm in the winter and comfy in the summer, keeps breezes off of them (I always have a let down when the wind hits them....), and I think it makes them heal faster. They rock.

Yes, esa here. Changed my username.

I'll have to make some for my sister. I need some small projects to feel like I've completed something.
