Lunch Box ideas

We'll be making our first foray into packed lunches in a month! Any recommendations? Laptop lunchbox 2.0, Ms. Bento, other ones out there? What have your kids liked the most?

I've heard mixed reviews of the Laptop Lunchbox, but I really like their concept.

Thanks!

We've used a combination of things over the past two and a half years of day care. We have Built Gourmet Getaway bags that we'll put steel thermoses in with hot food or we use To-go ware containers for cold lunches. We have an assortment of 4 ounce containers that we've used for snacks and small servings of other things going in lunch. The Built bags are big but my children are twins so we can fit two hot lunches in one bag. Next year, for kindergarten, they'll be in the same class so I'm not sure if we'll send lunch together together or split it up but either way, we'll use the same lunch bags. Part of what I like about the Built bags is that we can use them on the weekends, I use them for lunch, etc. and there's plenty of space for whatever we need without the bag being too bulky for a child to use daily. I like the flexibility of the options we have to adjust to whatever food we send.

Mixed reviews of Laptops??? I love them! I've used the same 2 for 2 years and they're going strong. The spoon in 1 broke but that's easily remedied.

I was unofficially voted "best lunch maker" by DD's kinde and 1st gr teachers. The bento concept forces/reminds me to diversify her lunch. The box sizes are perfect portions for her current appetite level.

I don't do the fancy cut-outs or use decorations, but I try to put a little artistic flair into the presentatoin. It helps take the ho-hum out of packing lunches every.single.day.

I'm a big fan of the Built bags too. They are insulating, flexible and so easy to wash - on Fridays I just throw them in the machine and hang them to dry. My 3 kids have one each and I fill them with a SS water bottle and numerous SS containers for snacks, sandwiches etc. I find we need the extra room because the hard sided containers take up a lot more room than plastic wrap and ziplocs would.
