need support to make the *right* choice

My family is working very hard at getting out of debt, part of which is my student loan debt from my MFA. I think it is by far the best thing that I give up my studio space, which costs $200/mo. But I need someone else to help me do it. Just reaching out for support to do what is best for my family. I can work other places and don't need a studio. I haven't used it in over a month.

Oh mama, it is soo hard to give up things that are significant to us. But, it sounds like you've made the financially responsible choice to give up your studio space.
$200/month can go a long way to overcoming debt!
Maybe you can carve out some "studio" space in your home!

Best of luck! You're doing the right thing

seems like a chance to explore your own creativity and resourcefulness, and what a joy it will be when you are able to afford studio space guilt-free again!

Thanks for your words of support. I called yesterday to cancel the lease and today went and cleaned out the space and turned in the keys. I am surprised a bit at how sad it feels to me, though it really is is is the right choice for right now. We have been doing an awesome job paying off debt and have already paid off our car loan and my wife's back taxes state. At this rate, we will have all debt except our big student loans paid off by October 2011. We are doing great and putting a lot of money toward powerpay debt payoff. This is just the first thing that has really felt like a sacrifice to me. I have wanted new sneakers and not gotten them and have waited on haircuts and new glasses, but that has really been ok. Giving up this studio space is the first thing that really feels like a sacrifice. I know my wife has felt like a lot of our frugal living/debt repayment has been a sacrifice, so this helps me to empathize with her. That's good, at least.

Again, thanks.
