Do you think these shoes fit?

I got some soft star shoes for my DD and am on the fence about whether they fit. She has narrow feet, and I know that shoes are supposed to have room for foot expansion, but it is hard for me to tell. Through the mid/upper part of her foot there is about an index finger of room in the width and in the ankle/back area there is about a pinky of room in the width. The length is fine in the shoe.

The link didn't work. Copied and pasted it, and it still didn't work.

Let's see if this link works

They are really cute shoes. They do look a little loose in the width though. Can you try to pinch the top of the shoe widthwise? If you can pinch and hold the leather, then they are too wide. Also, usually with "iffy" shoes I let my DS wear them for an hour or so and pay attention to how he walks. If he trips alot or complains, or has red marks on his feet then it's time to look for new shoes.

I used to fit children at Stride Rite.

Yes, I can definitely pinch and hold the leather. I have put them on her a bunch of times and she does not want to wear them. I wasn't sure if it was just the fact that they had laces that went around her ankle, because she does not want to wear socks right now either. She walks a little funny in them.

*sigh* back they go.

Thx!

I agree they look a bit wide. The soft star shoes we have had have always stretched a touch too once they were worn for a bit. I find that with soft star shoes it is always best to include the instep measurement regardless of which width you choose when you check out.

Soft Star is wonderful about returns thankfully

They have been very nice at SS shoes! The woman on the phone said I could send along a copy of DDs foot tracings and they would read them. I just wanted to make sure, before I sent them back. If they make a more narrow pair for her, they will be custom (double narrow) and I will not be able to return them.

I really want to like these shoes, but it was a bit annoying to get her foot in and tie the laces.

I have to admit, I am a really picky shopper. I like to buy quality things, but I expect them to fit perfectly and last a long time.

I'm with you on the picky shopper thing! I found SS shoes had a bit too much around the foot for DD1, who is also very narrow. I think it's just the way they're made, DD1 kept tripping. How old is your DD? Keens actually work really well for narrow feet (they look wide but aren't) and converse fit nicely as well.

SS does seam to run wide. It seams like the more 'natural' soft shoes have more room than other regular shoes in the stores. DD wears a 6 toddler so she could fit into keens but they have such a stiff sole, DS has some but he doesn't like to wear them.
