Ergo just broke-I am pissed at company

One of the strap that tighten the padded arm bands just broke while I was carrying DD. It ripped off about 4 inches from the buckle. Otherwise the arm band may have opened with DD inside.

We called the company the first women became rather unpleasant. "That never ever happens, it must have been damaged" bla bla bitch! Then after I complained she hung up!!! We called back to talk to the supervisor. She didn't do sh..it either. The carrier is no longer in warranty. They tell me to take to a seamstress. I say what about the other strap. I am really pissed. They don't stand by the safety of their products. They basically implied it was something I did. "Some people have them for 7 years" So what MINE didn't last. Did I say I am pissed. After talking to supervisor (owner?) I need to call back (yes, I am suppose to call them) in 1.5 weeks to see if they have any used ones available which she will then give me a discount on. I could also get 20% off a new one. I am so mad. Their lame product is now costing me extra money. And the worst is that now I feel so pissed off. Also, I feel like I would rather NOT get a second Ergo but we can't afford the $100 or more for a new one of another brand.

When I had an issue with my Ergo I took it back to the store I bought it at and they swapped it out for me. Is this an option for you? You might have more luck speaking with someone in person who can actually eyeball the damage.

Shame on Ergo though!

Yup, I had a question about a ripped waist strap on an Ergo that I loaned a friend and they pretty much said that I could buy a new one. I was rather irritated at the tone of their email response to me.

good idea except I bought it from their own website!

Can you post a picture? I'm curious about the damage 'cause I'm having a hard time picturing it.

Some companies just do not have good customer service. I bought mine through a local shop & they were fabulous.

Ok I will add that I tested the webbing strap (because they suggested a seamstress). It ripped twice where I tugged on it. There is no strength left to the last 10 inches or so.

I also will say that we have used the carrier for less than 16 months.

and maybe later I will post a photo but here maybe a better description- the straps that are padded that go around your shoulder have webbing strap that you pull to tighten the padded straps. I pulled one at it ripped entirely off.
