need help with SSC (to buy??)

Ok, you may have seen my pissed off post about my Ergo carrier that strap just broke (and is weak where it is not broken). The company is lame. They offered a discount on a lightly used one or 20% off a new one. SO, now I don't know what to do! Buy a relatively cheep used Ergo even though the one we had did not last 15 months!! (and I am not happy with how they are dealing with me) or spend a lot of money for a different brand of SSC. What should I do???

IF you suggest another brand which one???

thanks

After seeing the response you got from the company, I'd go with a completely different brand rather than give them more of my money.

I like the Freehand SSC (I don't have their mei tei but they have great reviews)

I would go with another company as well. I cannot stand poor customer service! I have found that we have good luck with items made in America. I know there are quite a few SSCs made here (the Ergo is made in China I believe).

We have the Boba, it is made in Colorado. We haven't had any issues, but DH did call the company for clarification and support on the back carry and they were very helpful!

I agree with the two previous posters.. with the poor CS you've gotten, and given some of their other "business tactics", although I quite liked the Ergo I had I wouldn't give them my business again.

There are plenty of other small companies that make SSCs, and loads of WAHM-made SSCs out there as well (two of my favorites - Kinderpack and Dream Carrier - are made by these dedicated mamas, although they can be hard to come by since it's just one mama making them all, with maybe a little help). I also think it's kind of cool that the mamas who make these carriers are available to chat on their FB pages or on thebabywearer if you have issues with using your carrier or if you just want to let them know how much you love it You can find plenty of used SSCs on the For Sale or Trade forum at thebabywearer, and there are a number of WAHM vendors that sell various SSCs too.

If you liked the fit of the Ergo as far as waist/shoulder straps, the Olives and Applesauce SSC (another WAHM-made carrier) is the most similar carrier that I've tried. Except it's prettier and not so hot (not heavily padded like the Ergo), and the body comes in two heights (16" or 18"). I think Sweet Pickles usually has some in stock.

Love the WAHM SSC's the best! I have a Kinderpack OTW and a Dream Carrier already and a Bamberoo as well. They are customized and just awesome.
