no interest in solids?

My dd is 9mos old. She is still ebf. She is a very active and healthy child, but she doesn't seem interested in solids. Mind you, I haven't offered them yet, but when we are eating she seems to take no notice. During meals she doesn't want to sit with us. Mostly she wants to play in the other room (perhaps it is because her older sisters are occupied and she can play with whatever she wants). My first seemed really interested at 5mos and I held her off until 7mos. I can't remember when I first offered them to my second, but she refused them until about 11mos (I was offering bananas and avocados...she is allergic to both, so that might have had something to do with it).

She is now in the throes of the 9mo sleep regression so I am a little gun-shy about offering solids since sleep issues is one of my dd#2's big signs that she is reacting to a food. But, is it time I offer her something even though she isn't begging for it? FWIW, dd#2 has an insane number of food allergies, so I know delaying solids with dd#3 isn't a terrible idea.

We waited until DS's 1st birthday to offer solids. We have no allergies in the family. This is just something we chose to do. We waited until his gut was developed enough to digest food. Yes it really does take a long time for the gut to fully develop. By waiting we were able to give him whatever we are eating. I really do not think there is any reason to push solids until they are ready.

I've heard of plenty of kids who weren't interested in solids until over 1 (mind you, this isn't first-hand as my daughter is only 4 months old). I don't think it's uncommon at all. You can definitely give some things like sweet potato "fries" to her to play with, and if she doesn't want to eat them, that is fine! She'll get there eventually, mama.

DS had ZERO interest in solids. Then I had a temporary dip in milk supply (I'm pregnant) since then he will eat solids 1-4x a day depending on the day and mood. I just offer often and go from there. I figure there is no real pressure to eat solids because he is nursing, but I am mildly concerned about iron.

So Its normal...I think.

I thought I should add...DS was exclusively breastfed for a year. Nothing but Mommy's milk.

We're in the same boat with my 10 month old. She'll play with and grab for for food but she won't eat it and she won't be spoonfed either. We did get her iron tested and she needs supplementation. That's going OK but the solids-eating is going nowhere. I find it quite stressful.

This was a little worry of mine for dd1. She had no interest in solids or any of my homemade baby food. She was ebf and plenty fat, so I wasnt overly concerned. I just wondered why everyone elses babies were eating 3 meals a day.
When she was 1 she started eating things she could pick up w/ her fingers. With my ds it was the same. They both had there gag reflex till about 8 months and just no real interest in solids.
As long as your baby is gaining weight your fine.
