What do you put in? I thought it was all said and done after spring harvesting.

You can grow greens like spinach and cabbage and most root veggies (carrots, parsnips, beets, kohlrabi, celeriac) well into the cold weather, and you can grow a crop of peas in the fall too. You can start most onions and garlic in the fall. Also for soil benefit and to keep the weeds down you can put in hairy vetch, rye, stuff like that through the winter in unused beds. Oh and fall is the time to put in many kinds of perennials

I am in Indiana, zone 5, and this is the info I found online:

Semi-Hardy Vegetables
(tolerates light frost)

Beets

I have planted or will plant today spinach, lettuce, carrots, peas, cilantro, and swiss chard from seed. Hope that helps!

Thanks for the list! I have been going through my packets to see what has a short growing time.I don't like the smell if cilanto, but love to grow things for the bees like this and buckwheat.

I am pulling older plants, flipping the soil, and planting some green manure crops for a week or 2 before I add my fall seeds.

Plastic row covers will extend the season, but I am thinking of getting a 10 by 20 harbor freight green house now that they are going on sale.

I am in a zone 5/6 and throw out seeds well into fall.
