Home-Grown Alfalfa Sprouts Ok or Bad?

I am at 9 weeks and am turned off so many vegis right now (and I'm vegetarian, go figure) that when the thought occurred to me to grow some sprouts and stuff them in everything, I was overjoyed. I am soaking some at this very moment. But I had this nagging feeling that I had read somewhere not to have them. There is some kind of bacteria they can have, right? If the sprouts are grown at home in a jar, wouldn't that pretty much cut down any risks? Or does the process still lend itself to being unsafe? *SIGH*, thinking of most vegis makes my stomach turn right now, and then the few healthy things that sounds good to me are "unsafe"?

Veggie here. There is a chance of bad bacteria (listeria?) with all greens (they need to rinsed well!). I've been eating sprouts from the shop and homemade. I let my nose be the judge on the shop ones and I rinse those really well. I don't rinse my homemade ones. HTH.
