How did you know if your DC teeth hurt?

My DD is 2 and has a few cavities on her top teeth. Her one front tooth is chipping away before my eyes. I am so scared her teeth are hurting her but I don't really see any signs of pain other than the fact that she sometimes wakes up crying in the middle of the night and seems really restless. This could be from many things though and she has always been a night waker. I ask her if her teeth hurt and she says no. I did notice that she likes to bite with her bottom teeth more often but does still use the top, so my question is, how do you know if their teeth are hurting them? If you had a child with tooth pain, did you know for sure?
We have to wait till OCT to get in for GA and I just don't want her to be suffering

My childs dentist said that kids will just accept that eating is uncomfortable. They weather the storm, so to speak. Jaden woke up crying in the night quite a bit. He had his oral surgery on Monday and he is sleeping through the night for the first time ever this week. He is also talking non stop, now. He has had a slight speech delay for the last year. I think these are some of the ways his pain had an effect on his temperment. A month ago we were on the waiting list, scheduled for January 2011. People do cancel, we were lucky and only had to wait 4 weeks. Best wishes.
