red marks on thighs

Thread Starter
i have two questions but two diff. topics so ill post separately.

i have a DD (our first) who is 3 months old. I use a ring sling, manduca (like an ego, its awesome) and am borrowing a woven wrap (storchenweig) from a friend to try it out.

when i wear DD and take her out, i notice that she hasunder her knees, red marks, and the sling or carrier rubs her legs there, and im wondering if this is hurting her or how to avoid it?!? she doesnt seem to complain when she is in, and i cant do her froggy style because she is really long, and weighs about 16 lbs. and when i was doing froggy style (i think thats what its called?! legs tucked in, higher than bum) her feet were RED as an apple when i took her out.
so i dont do that anymore!

thanks for any help!

Anytime you have pressure on the legs, you're going to get red marks. As long as they're not chafing or digging into the skin, you're okay.

Agree with PP...if it's just redness from pressure, don't worry about it. Even if we sit in a chair, our legs get red at the pressure points.

One thing that can minimize the redness (or get rid of it altogether...we don't usually have any marks when DD comes out of a RS) is to check to make sure your LO's weight is 90% on her bum and upper thighs, with her knees and hips bent enough that her knees are above her bum (like she is almost squatting against you).

HTH!
