Did I ovulate?

I have not been charting or really paying much attention actually because I am still nursing my one year old and my cycles have not returned. I was charting and my fertility signs were SSooo confusing. Every few days I was having signs of fertility returning(stretchy mucus, etc.) So we decided to not worry about it until AF returns.
So we had sex two days ago and this morning I noticed copious cervical fluid, stretchy and clear and so I checked my cervix and it was the most high soft and open I have ever felt it. I got paranoid and used an ovulation test and it was negative, (one faint line and one dark one,) I checked my cervix again a few minutes ago, several hours llater and it is low, closed and firm. Could my hormones be fluctuating this much without ovulation?

Yep - sounds like you are gearing up to get AF back though!

Are you sure it was Cm and not just leftover Dh as well?
hard to say without temps because you can get lots of secondary signs before Af returns and have it just be hormonal adjustments - or like rachel said, gearing up for fertility to return, but when? Can't say for sure.

Well, it was coming out in strands and was totally egg-whitey- wouldv'e stretched across the room. Thanks for the responses. I'm just not going to worry about it, though I will probably keep better track now if only to have an idea of what my body is doing, we aren't trying to concieve again yet, but we also aren't trying to prevent it unless I know for sure that I am ovuating and maybe once AF returns if it is before our youngest is two.
