Queer Conceptions - August - Page 14

Nope. I am located smack dab outside OU's campus in the Sooner State of OK. Not quite lesbian friendly here.

Plus, I don't have a bunch of money to be shelling out for infertility clinics here. I am quite fertile, have all my tests done (other than being a bit overweight...190lbs 5'6'') and my blood tests have come back great. I've asked two doctor's and neither will sign because I am single .

Max - Hooray for those fatties. Fingers crossed that tonight is the night!!!

Vanni - have you tried using a midwife or a nurse pract? We had luck with the nurse pract since we live in the sucky south where SS couples are rarely recognized. LOL. Give one of those two a try.

Coco - are you going to find out the sex of the twins? Are you secretly hoping for specific sexes?

AFM - BFN today at 14dpo. I will likely test one last time, but I am anxious for the next cycle. PS.... I HATE these prog suppos! (I know I've complained daily about them, but you ladies are my release. Hehehe!)

Vannie~ Do you live in Norman? I do too, about a mile from campus. How funny! Our doctor is excellent and extremly lesbian friendly~ he even let my DP do the final squirt on the insem this last time (which is why it worked, we're sure~ now she can't stop reminding me that she got me pregnant Private message me and I'll give you the details.

2ez~ So sorry, that's really irritating and disappointing. Keep moving forward. And yes, the prog sups are mighty unpleasant. The floor beside my bed is littered with little pink rubber 'cups'.

Coco~ I think that would be the best possible outcome. If I get to choose, I'd want identical twins, but if they were fraternal, one of each would be ideal. Can't wait to find out right along with you!

SO TIRED today. After my 12 hour day at work, I woke up at 4:30 and couldn't go back to sleep. Don't know how I'll make it all day...

Library I love that your DP knocked you up (with a bit of medical assistance). Good luck getting through your long day.

Vannie I hope that you can get Library's doctor! That might help a lot.

Max How did the insems go? Fingers crossed...

AFM I had an u/s this morning. The Clomid seems to be speeding things up--on cd 10 I have two 15mm follicles and a bunch of smaller ones. So far, no s/x with the Clomid--here's hoping it stays that way. So I'm going back in on Friday for another u/s and will probably trigger shortly thereafter. I'm really excited!
Amanda - what mg of clomid are you taking? I just did my first cycle with 50mg, but my doctor is upping it to 100mg this next cycle.

I'm on 50mg. I'm hoping that does the trick. Why is your doc going up to 100mg for you? Is s/he concerned that you didn't ovulate on 50mg?

At first I thought that because our twins are Dichorionic-Diamniotic (two sacs-two placentas) that they were necessarilly not-identical. I read more and found out that 30% of Di-Di twins are identical, it depends when the egg splits ! Now we only DID have ONE mature eegg 24 hours before the 1st insem... so who knows !!

Vannie and Library--what a small world! I hope everything works out with the doctor!

Coco--that's so interesting--I always thought that two sacks meant fraternal, too. It will be fun to know whether yours are identical or not!
Escher, I'm glad that you and your DP found a solution that works for you and feels right-- that's the most important thing! And, as happy as I am with our choice to stick with our donor, I can totally identify with your DP's stance-- had something gone wrong this time, I would certainly have second guessed this choice. In any case, I'm happy to join Wehrli and others as evidence that there is successful (so far, at least) pregnancy after loss. Plus, for us it worked the first cycle we tried after the loss. Hoping that this cycle or one very soon is the one for you!

Wehrli, thanks for your kind words to Escher about my advice. It makes me feel good to know that it was helpful to you, and it makes me feel sane to know that what made sense to us made sense to you and your DP as well. And I'm so glad it's turning out so well for us both!

MaxK, good luck! I'm thinking of you and those big healthy follicles!

Vannie, I have a good feeling that Library will be a huge resource!

AmandaHope, hi! It's good to see you back on the board and having such a great response to the clomid. FX for good news soon!

2EZ: There's still hope at 14DPO! Let us know what tomorrow looks like!

Ok, that's about as far back as I can manage with the personals. Thinking of you all, as usual.

AFM: Thyroid scare is a bit resolved: it turns out I have Hashimoto's (Bunny, don't you also have this dx?) and will have to take synthroid. My new array of doctors assures me that this won't affect the fetus since we caught it early, and we're just going to have to believe that and hope for the best. Otherwise, hanging in.

Vannie~ it is a small world indeed! I sent you a message, you'll have to let us know how it goes. We love our doc for sure!

AmandaH~ Wow! You're really cooking a bunch of those follies! That sounds really promising~ won't be long before you get some swimmers in there to do their jobs!

Beastie~ Yikes! I'm glad your problem's easily resolved, and that it won't affect the baby. I'm sure all will be well. Biggest hugs.

Coco~ That's cool about the twins/sacs thing. Now I'm even more excited to find out what's going on!

I'm completely worn out today and almost fell asleep in our library meeting. zzzzzzz Already excited to go to bed tonight. Lame!

Hi Everyone,

Library: It's exciting that you're having such strong pregnancy tiredness! I hope you're able to get the sleep you need.

Beastie: I'm glad you figured out what was up with your thyroid. I've known several pregnant people with Hashimoto's, and they've been totally fine--they got some extra ultrasounds out of it, and they were thrilled to get to see their baby more often!

Coco: Good luck with helping your DP with bedrest! That definitely sounds like a challenge.

AmandaHope: I'm really excited for you! It's great that you're getting help with monitoring your follicles, and that you're going to get to insem soon!

2ezforyou: I'm sorry. BFNs are always so disappointing. When do you think you'll stop taking the progesterone?

Gelly: I don't know anything about ovacue, but I hope you get the information you need soon!

Max: I hope that the insems went well! I have everything crossed for you!

Wehrli: What insurance do you have that pays 90% of sperm washing? I'm impressed (and envious)!

A related QOTD: What insem or related costs does your insurance cover?

My insurance doesn't cover much. They are sometimes willing to cover the MD fees for one IUI (but not the sperm processing fees), but they get weird about donor sperm so sometimes cause problems with that. They do cover bloodwork and progesterone, and they covered the ultrasound I had after my miscarriage. And they pay 60% of my acupuncture costs.

Solejean: How exciting that you get to do IUIs next week!

MujerMamaMismo: How are you doing?

Chiquitayy: Did you get your swimmers?

Iheartsheep: I would agree with the others about seeing if your clinic could NOT wash the sperm.

Bunny: How are you doing? When you have a chance, can you move my chart up from taking a break? Thanks!

AFM: I'm really glad to be back in a cycle where I'm going to insem. I'm looking forward to being pregnant!

It sure is quiet in here.

Bunny- how are you doing?

I'm just waiting to catch an egg. I didn't have to many symptoms w/clomid. Yeah! We are just hoping to get the timing right this time.

Hello All! Hope everyone is doing well.
I am pretty sure that I ovulated last night so we are officially "marinating". Where is every one else?
Library- Yay for being tired from pregnancy.

Coco- Can’t wait to hear about your twins! When do you find out if they are fraternal or maternal? Sorry for not knowing this. I think I would also want a boy and a girl.

2ez- That does seem a little extreme to up it to 100mg after the first cycle on meds. Did you do an u/s right before you ovulated last month?

AmandaHope- Good luck with those growing follicles!

Vannie- Keep your head up, I know the dr.’s can be frustrating. I had to switch clinics.

Gelly- I hope you get some answers about your Ovacue monitor, sorry I can’t help. for your insem.

Solejean- Good luck with the upcoming insem

iheartsheep- I think it’s great your office is giving you good advice. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Wehrli- Have fun at the Faire! I’ve never been but it seems it’s quite an event from your feedback.

Chiquitayy- Good luck with your upcoming insem

Beastie- Glad to hear the synthroid will not affect the fetus. Hang in there

AFM- We insem’ed Tuesday night and Wed morning. I felt strong ovulation cramping starting at noon on Wed. That huge follicle on my right side really hurt coming down. We are keeping our fingers crossed that the sperm was alive and waiting when that egg dropped!
QOTD: i have BCBS... they cover 90% of everything related to infertility. it took me a whole year for them to allow me to go see an infertility specialist but once i did there were no questions asked. my prescription coverage is crap though... they cover nothing related to infertility.
beastie - as you know my dp has hashimoto's and our almost 7 month old is living proof that you can have a successful pregnancy with that condition. i'm sure the endo has already told you to have regular tsh, t3, t4 and free t4 checks. i am so glad you were able to get synthroid quickly. oh and our daycare assistant director also had a successful pregnancy with hashimoto's! her wee man is 4 weeks old.

qotd - our insurance, although pretty amazing in all other areas, plainly states no coverage for infertility. we had to pay out of pocket for sperm, insems and u/s related to insems. our very nice re coded as much as she could "routine" so some things we didn't get charged for besides the co-pay.

Hey !! Sounds like you have great timing !! Good luck !!!

For the twins, if they are same-sex, only a genetic test done once they are born can tell if they are identical or not. Most parents do it of the babies look alot alike. Interesting huh ?
