Canning cherries has become an all day ordeal!! I'm right at the end of cherry season (thank goodness!) and next year I will be investing in a cherry pitter if these 3 pints turn out even halfway ok. I ended up doing 2.5 lbs removing the pits with a ball-point pen. This was after the paperclip, bobby-pin, straw and bamboo skewer all failed me and these cherries.

Next up - peaches (3lbs)... there is a light at the end of the canning tunnel, right?

Unschoolin' - yes please, please post the recipe!!

Aweyn - black to peach? What??? I'm scared to ask, but did it look black at first... and now we've discovered its true color? !

Told her we could sew a dress like this one at her size when she's an adult...

"But it wouldn't be this dress mom!"

She was really annoyed that I didn't seem to understand the need for this dress for her wedding.

She had a blast at the firefighter's kid challenge. Made it more than 50 times in the afternoon. I helped the crew and it was appreciated.
Going back tomorrow to sell t-shirts with DH.

There was a dragon dancing in the streets; DD2 was so proud to pet her big red nose! She (I know it was a SHE cause she had her name on her collar: Anabelle) was wandering with 3 drummers wearing bright costumes! It was fun!

I would personally do a spell for getting rid of something (ie selling a house) during a waning moon, but it's all about the wording.

about your dp sitch. You sound so strong in your love. That's so nice to read.
Aww, thanks

I have been told to absolutely wait until the moon is growing. Hmm. I see what you mean, though. How would you word it then, if I were to wait till Tuesday or Wednesday? I want the right buyer, I want this house SOLD, I want it sold THIS MONTH, and I hope to break even or not lose too awfully much.

By hand? From scratch? Funny that you say that. I was just telling someone not 2 hours ago about the time I did that. Took like 3 hours to make, and about 15 minutes to devour
Was delish, though!

Ritual was very nice today. I needed to let go and get in touch with my spiritual side, and the Earth, and the Goddess. Didn't hurt that the priestess can speak Gaelic, either

Hmm...I think I'd assume the selling and focus on receiving the money and the proper seller (what I'd be bringing in). I'm not sure exactly what I'd say, but I'd probably use words like abundance and love and offer thanks for what I want to get. Good luck!

I'm here again, coffee in hand.

House selling ritual: we sold our old house and bought our actual one around TMap time five years ago so I used the vision board. I put the picture of our actual house, surrounded with gold, in a Home Sweet Home frame in the prosperity corner (added the words this or better under the picture). I put a For Sale sign (+ the address of the old house) in the Helper's corner and glued a big SOLD in red over the sign.

I do like rituals with lighting candles or fire, making offering, calling the spirits/gods/goddesses... but creating a visual support of my intent has always been a great tool for me. So collage or writing a letter/story about the intent would be part of any ritual I'd do to sell a house.

Maybe you could write about selling the house and moving in with M in a "it already happened" tone.

Yes, that way the universe will see it as it has already happened and it acts upon it. I've done that a few times but you have to have no doubt in your mind about it.

Oh lordy I'm busy!

wedding dress- you know, you soooooooo have to save that dress (and the story) so you can give it as a wedding gift. I saved a letter written by the 10yo-me and signed by my then 6yo-brother that basically said he'd never, ever, do "that" because it was beyond icky. I gave it to his wife at the wedding to do with as she would.

Still sewing, hoping to start packing, but have to be at MIL for the family potluck at 5pm. Still need to pick up two tarps, twine, batteries, and a cooler (all at MIL's thankfully) and figure out where the leak in dd1's air mattress is/patch it.

Oh, and I spent just a minute shy of THREE HOURS sitting with dd2 as she tried to poop. No joy. Also no poop. Lots of screaming though. She's asleep on the floor right now. ARGH!!!!!!

Good stuff, this. Must think about. Thanks!

Do NOT give her laxatives! (or, if you do, put her on a rubber sheet, first)

What a lovely day. We went to church and the kids had a blast while we adults learned about Haiti during and after the earthquake. They have a zen trail around the church with lots of old trees and paths that the kids enjoy exploring.

Last night, dh got to play with the baby. Each time he'd tap on my stomach, the baby would tap back in the same place. Most of those taps were pretty strong and caused me to jump a bit.

Hope all is having a good Sunday!

Sorry to hear that. I understand that misery all too well. Hope she poops soon! And, hope it glides on out, really.

Soooo cute!

This thread has been inspiring for me. I feel like the last 2-3 years have been such a mass of confusion for me, spiritually. For a long while, "pagan" didn't feel like enough for me. Actually, nothing felt like enough, in general. I was going thru a "dark night of the soul", a fellow goddess-lovin' friend let me know.

As a result, I ended up pregnant and moving across the country, far away from the little I still held dear. And, I feel my again and it's sooo wonderful! The goddesses never let me go and they once again feel near. (Jesus and I had a new development in our relationship, too.)

Being on this thread lit a spark under my butt yesterday and I looked up some stores and websites and saw a Lammas ritual scheduled and went out to it. Didn't find it, but that's okay, because I feel ready to re-devote myself on a whole other, deeper level these days and you all have helped with that, just by being here on this huge internet.

All that to say...thanks, pagans. You've always been my favorite sort of people.

Yay! Soon you'll feel "good enough" and "full enough" to know that your faith deserves capitalization
(That's just me...I'm picky that way )

Good day, here. We went to church; hadn't been in a looooong time. The topic was similar to yours, unschoolin, in that they talked about the Hiroshima/Nagasaki anniversary. And the kids went on a Nature walk. Then by chance, we saw a kid that got to come home with for a playdate And they "discovered" dinosaur bones in the place under where the shed used to be. M wanted to know why I'd buried things under the shed

Speaking of M, he seems back to his usual perky self. I wish I could find a way to let him know, without seeming to pester or nag, that he needs to find a way to deal with things other than by drinking at them, or drowning them Oh well. One day, hopefully, he'll figure that out.

Getting ready for my spell, soon
I am tending towards Tuesday, but may yet be Wednesday. Let y'all know Tuesday morning.

Thank you all for the lovely welcome/Merry meet. I am really happy to have found this group

We had a lovely weekend mainly berry picking in our favorite wood right by us. DD had a blast - she arrived home with just two berries in her basket and a purple face .

We are still learning lots and trying to figure it all out. DD is totally into Faeries and her current favorite book is 'Merlina and the Magic Spell' - so I guess she's off to a good start . I am very interested in Wicca ( i think I like the idea of being a Kitchen Witch) and Faeries. DH has always been interested in Norse Mythology and Wicca. I guess we are going to be eclectic! We have a little, simple seasonal table set up ( it started out just being for DD) but would really like to start celebrating the festivals, develop our table into more of an altar, and explore Wicca further - any advice on where/how we should start?

My parents are coming to visit for a month so we might have to put everything on hold since our families are, well, pretty conventional. It's just one of many things that we are hiding away right now but it would be great to just be ourselves.

So far behind again in this thread! So hello and hi to all....hope everything is going well.

I had a chakra cleansing and intuitive read yesterday...it was really nice (though she didnt read me very well imo, but I am frequently told I am hard to read!). I am getting ready to start a big diet later this week I hope and I am very nervous and excited at the same time!

You know what? I really appreciate you posting that, because it caused me to really look at how I behave vs. what I believe. In Paganism (ha!), I have always been very specific about which words I capitalized and when. So, that sentence gave me pause, because I specifically did not capitalize in my previous post. I certainly didn't mean to offend anyone, but beyond that, for the first time since claiming Paganism, I sat and looked at how I express myself within what I claim for myself and what I do out of respect for what others claim for themselves.

For instance, I would capitalize Christianity, even though I think of it as an umbrella term, just like I think of Paganism as an umbrella term. But, I wouldn't capitalize Paganism (in the past). That's illogical. Why show more reverence for something I am not than something I claim to be? Thinking about that led me to examine the spirituality vs. religion argument I carry around in my head. (Using "argument" in the most literal way, there.) I know others claim Paganism to be a religion, but to me it's always been an umbrella term that covers the actual religions (Wicca, Asatru, Santeria, etc.). I would capitalize the "actual religions" but not the "umbrella term". Your sentence helped me realize how ridiculous that is (for me). It doesn't follow, b/c I only do that with Paganism. I wouldn't do that with any other religion or path. And, this isn't just spirituality. This is truly religion!

So...I had my own little "ah-ha" moment cuz of you. Thanks, dah-lin!

Hopefully, that time will come soon. I can understand, tho. When I first claimed Pagan, I was glad I wasn't speaking to my Muslim parents at the time. It would have been so stressful for me to talk to them about that, especially while forging my path. Good luck!

Just want to pop in quickly to say that I found a photo of myself when I was a size 8 (I'm at least a 22 right now).

I'm going to use this photo as my desktop pic and am going to get a copy of it made and carry it around with me. I will use visualization to help me in the process of losing weight.

I'm so done with being obese.

I'm sitting here writing a paper (due in class tomorrow) on Howard Gardner's theory of multiple intelligence. It has to be 1,050-1,400 words and in APA format. I'm at almost 500 words so doing okay.

After I am done, I think I'm going to light some lavendar, peruse craigslist for furniture for the kids, eat dinner, and then crochet a bit. Hopefully this week or next I'll be able to head to the fabric store to grab more PUL and other things so I can start making diapers for the baby.
