Hello all, I'm glad to have been introduced to this site and I look forward to learning, relearning and being calmed.
Ok so I'm gonna try to make a long story short to help people understand where I'm coming from with this baby. With my first pregnancy I was determined to go as far as I could naturally, a month or two (thankfully I cant remember now) before she was due we found out that my husband, who was to be my coach and helper, was to have his volantary departure date two weeks before my due date (he was in the states illegally and this was how we were told we could help him regain his status). Basically he had to leave to go to Mexico two weeks before she was born, I still tried to go as far as I could but didn't make it. This turned out to be a good thing because I had to push her out from higher than the -1 station. The dr was threatening a c section and begged her to let me try and push her out. It worked and I got the name of supper pusher. lol But with out the epi I prob wouldn't have been able to do that. With number two I had moved to Mexico but seriously got pregnant like my first day here so I had her 9 months after moving here. I was in a new country and scared, I had her at a private hospital but things were way different than with the first. I did have the epi and had my husband there but both didn't happen till I was dilated to 8 and 15 min before I started pushing. I'm pretty sure by the way I was feeling that I entered the transition stage before they gave me the epi and sent my husband in. For this third baby we dont have the money for the private system and will be using the public health system here in Mexico. With this there is not epi unless its emergency and needed, and no one is able to come into the room with you. In the old hospital they had 5 or 6 women laboring in the same room but we have a new hospital now and I am not sure if this is still the case. We should be finding this out tomorrow. Basically once I am in the hospital I'm on my own and will be lucky if a nurse asks me how I'm doing. Right now the plan is to labor at home as long as possible. I plan to learn more about checking my own cervix and teaching my husband to do the same in case I cant reach. I need to find some good info for my husband to read that is not to technical or boring but at the same time helps him to fully understand how to help me decided when to go in to the hospital. Although I feel prepared for the labor its the birth and pushing that scares me, its basically the only part I haven't had to go through without pain meds and I will be doing it without support most likely.
Wow that ended up being much longer than I expected but I wanted it to be understood where I was coming from.
I'm glad to be on the site and happy to hear some positive stuff.

Welcome to MDC!

Birth is different for everybody. For me pushing wasn't painful at all. Transitioning was hard, but bearable. I didn't have any drugs during either of my transitions or pushing stages. I did end up with a C-section for ds#1, but ds#2 was a vbac.

Good luck! And congrats on your pregnancy!

Hello and welcome! Congratulations on your pregnancy. I'm so sorry you won't be able to have your husband in the room with you but I hope you are able to find the information you need to make laboring easier. Good luck!
