total noob question re: pumping

So, my baby is 5 months and I am going to get my hair done on Tuesday. Today I dust off pharmacy rental pump. Baby is gonna spend the morning with daddy while I go so I thought a bit of milk might make that easier.

I got 40 ml out of one breast. Is that good?
How much would a 5mo baby need to eat during a morning, assuming he eats before I leave. (9 - 12 aprox)

In any case I'd like to start building up a freezer stash just in case. I have little advent freezer things which look like tupperware (breastmilk storage containers? ). How much should I aim to have stored in each container for future feedings.

Any other tips for a total newbie pumper?

Many thanks in advance for any help you can send my way.

I think a general rule is one ounce per hour. So if you're gone for 3 hours you may need 3 oz. That said, if you nurse just before you leave, you may not need any. I think most people freeze 3 oz. a bag/container. That will minimize waste. Your baby might not be too thrilled about a bottle if she has never had one before. You might one to grab a few different kinds to experiment with which she likes best. Also if she is 5 mos. you can try sippy cups too. Good luck!

Thanks so much for responding!!! You fully answered my questions.
Baby actually sips water from my cup on occasion , so daddy'll feed him from a regular cup.
The salon is a two minute walk from our door, so this really is just a just in case question.
It's going to feel so weird leaving the house without a baby carrier! Can't wait for some new hair
