Our Samson is almost 10yrs old. He is big 124 lbs and quite tall. He has those fatty deposits all over him, which i think are beginning to hinder his movement, a bit. He mostly just lays around all day. He recently began following us, and laying down wherever we are, he has not done this since we began fostering a great dane puppy almost a year ago. He seems sad, but not in pain, as far as I can tell, his eating has drastically reduced, sometimes skipping a meal, he gets fed twice a day. He still barks here and there at people walking by but mostly I think because he has some cataracts that are possibly hindering his sight, so he doesn't recognize people from far away. He doesn't seem interested in being pet or in playing, or interacting with us or the Great Dane, he just wants to be near us.
I guess I am just wondering if there is a way to know if he is in pain? When do we know to put him to sleep? At what point do you say he is no longer enjoying life? UGH...He has always been the dog that will never die
Seriouslym he has eaten, ingested, pooped out, thrown up more stuff than I EVER would have imagined could be possible, He has intestines of steal
and now it seems this may be the end of his time with us...
and I am just not sure how to go about dealing with that....
Any thoughts, or help would be greatly appreciated.
