baby doesnt want to nurse!

my son is driving me crazy! he is almost 10 months old. up until about a month (maybe two now) ago he was a good nurser. he ate well and often. then all of a sudden he started only wanting to nurse if i took him into my room, in the dark, with no one around. then he started to not even want to nurse at all. i started giving him baby food at about 6 months once a day. then i guess a month or two ago i started giving him little bites of this and that when i ate. then he started having severe constipation issues so i stopped giving him everything but the one baby food a day (and breast milk). so now during the day he will just suck his thumb and cry like he's hungry, but he refuses to nurse a lot of the time. sometimes if i lay him on the bed over and over again (because he keeps getting up to crawl off) he will settle down to nurse. other times he will just cry and get mad. he usually nurses alot at night and before he goes to sleep at night and most naps. but still he seems hungry during the day and wont nurse. and now he's starting to not want to sleep during the day even though he seems exhausted. i will walk him around and lay down with him, etc. etc. and he won't sleep. but he will cry and whine like he's tired. i am so frustrated! i have no idea what is going on! the only change is that he has gotten sick (and still is) and his 3 older brothers have been home for the past two months for summer break. does anyone have any ideas???

I'd have his ears checked.

Also, he could be teething.
