~*~ Bitter Sushi Ladies • August 2010 ~*~

Thread Starter
Welcome to the August thread, ladies!!!

This is a thread for those who have been TTC for a long time, whether 6 months, 12 months, or more. At this point many of us are at or past 1 or 2 years, many have had losses, many are dealing with various forms of infertility, and some are just in a waiting period until they can TTC again.

The name? Well, all things considered we tend to be a little bitter sometimes. So read with care . And due to everything, our emotions run a little raw like sushi. Too many cycles of BFN and CD1 sushi & sake to console ourselves. This TTC business is something that seems to "just happen" for so many...but we just can't seem to get it right. So this is where we can be together, share and express anything.

Hey, ladies... I've been following along over the last few days and thinking of everyone! Jennifer, congrats Apricot, still praying Tear, hope you have an answer soon!

AFM, the hsg was cd6, and it seemed like the spotting and soreness lasted for quite awhile. The good news is, my tubes seemed to be clear - now I'm hoping for that statistical bump in fertility after hsg CD10 here, and planning on starting the OPKs tomorrow or the day after...

Oh, and in other news, I got a job! An amazing part-time job with flexible hours, working with people I love... I start Aug. 16, and I'm hoping for a BFP the week after that That would be so Murphy's Law, and I wouldn't mind at all - I've given up on keeping life neat!

thanks Millefleur and

justthinkn: I like your attitude congrats on the new job!

Thanks for the thread, millefleur!

Congratulations on the job, justthinkn.

I'm 11 DPO. Trying to hold out until 16 DPO to test.
Jennifer - CONGRATULATIONS!

Apricot - Thinking of you and hoping all is well. Sending love your way.

Tear - Grrrr. So frustrated for you.

Jenger - How was your fabulous-sounding weekend? What a great mix of activities!

justthinkn - Glad the hsg went ok and is over. I hope this is your month, with those nice, clear tubes! And congrats on the new job. Here's to new beginnings.

Enigo - Look at that chart, Lady! That's quite the rise in temperature. What happened today, or did you stop charting?

AFM- I always chart in the TWW. I've never considered quitting (just hadn't really thought about it) until today when I had a temp drop which discouraged me (I know, I know, I shouldn't worry about all the little dips, etc). I've been feeling nauseous and exhausted, and we had such good timing this month that I've got my hopes wayyy up. But it's the second cycle post-miscarriage and I've never managed to get pregnant that quickly after a miscarriage. I think I need to re-adjust my expectations. But I mean, really? In December it will be TWO YEARS of TTC#2. How's that fair?
Oh, thank goodness...
Hey ladies!! Sorry I've been MIA! I'm back!

Tear~ for It feels funny to say that but when you know you're not pregnant....it's a very big relief to be able to start the next cycle! I hope your optimism and hopefulness starts setting in now!! I seem to always feel so hopeful in the beginning of the cycle....(that is after major depression occurs..). s

collieflower~ I so know what you mean! I had a loss in March, and then conceived right away in May which was the second cycle for us post miscarriage. Then I had a loss at the end of May/beginning of June....and just had a period in July...and am hoping this month to get pregnant! Part of me wonders if we should have taken some time off to try and let my body "heal"...however....the thought of taking time off makes me feel ill. :Puke And I always chart during the TWW too. Always have..and probably always will now? Though the thought of skiping sounds kind of nice as far as the extra sleep goes...

Kinza~ girl!!!!!

justthinkn~ Congrats on the job!! How awesome!! And I LOVE your "given up on keeping life neat" quote! LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!! "Life happens when you're busy making other plans.." RIGHT? RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!

millefleur~ Thanks so much for being the thread keeper!! You rock!! Here's to August.....may we have MANY BSL BFP's this month!!!! Let's bring on the MAY BABIES!!!!!!!!!!!

Miriam~ I totally get not feeling very positive right now. s We definitely all deserve way better. I wish I could hug you in person!!

Tara2~ for you!!! Sometimes we think its bad timing and it's PERFECT! You just never know!!

Enigo~ I just wanted to comment on a previous post you wrote. Every time I have been pregnant, I've never felt pregnant either. EVER. It was always the months I was insistent that I was out. INSISTENT. No sore bbs, no tiredness, NOTHING!

AFM: CD5 I believe. should be leaving me today... Feeling really really optimistic this month for some reason. Trying acupuncture! SO excited for that!! Hoping it works!! We're just gonna BD like crazy ppl this month. We ARE getting pregnant this month. That is IT!

Tear yay? for AF

Well I didn't temp this morning because DDDDDDDDDDDDS woke me up at 5. Even at that remote hour, I deduced that no good could come of temping so early. It wouldn't be accurate and would cause me further pain and suffering.

I used a dollar store test this morning and it laughed at me. I am 11dpo, but still I suddenly don't feel pregnant at all. Yesterday I was about 50% convinced.

Next cycle I am quitting the progesterone cream. I cannot obsess properly and that's really all I have left.
Please add me to Waiting to Know But it's a BFN at 13dpo. I have a blood test at my RE's office to confirm (what I already know).

We meet with our RE on Thursday and I hoping we will get the go-ahead to start IVF right away. Anyone else looking at IVF? Would love to touch base with you if you are.

We will be examining the possibility of IVF in late-August or Sept. The RE told us to go straight to IVF given my 'ancient 'age of 36 (37 next week) and our difficulties getting pregnant. However, I've had 3 miscarriages, so I'm a bit skeptical about spending $12,000 on something that may be doomed to fail for me. I'm supposed to call on CD 1 for an ultrasound Day 3-5; I assume this is for cycle-monitoring? The RE didn't explain well and I was a basket case, so I didn't ask my usual barrage of questions. The following week we head to the recurrent miscarriage clinic.

So I guess this is a long way of saying that we'll be determining the plan of action depending on the outcomes of the next 3 weeks. There's a good chance IVF will be the outcome. Now I just have to resign myself to spending much of our life's savings on this...

Would be happy to chat further with you about it! Must warn you now that I haven't done my research yet (which is totally unlike me). Good Luck at the RE apt! Let me know how it goes.

My weekend was great, thanks for asking! The weather was a bit cold/foggy, however... We biked around a lot, kayaked a bit, and generally relaxed... I only thought of TTC once or twice - it was our trip there last year where we started trying. I remember taking tons of OPK's waaaay too early while we were there last year...

collieflower
Hope you're feeling better. Hitting those milestones is SO HARD!

enigo I have been meaning to mention to you that I am (ahem, was) a plant geek. (Not to say that you are, but you are INTO plants!) I used to teach botany and plant taxonomy... I mostly am into west-coast native plants, but have a great appreciation for (sub) tropical plants.

Apricot We haven't heard from you... Have we? I have been thinking of you.

Oh yeah I used to be crazy into it. I mean eat...sleep... breathe rare plants. We've been around the world and back collecting plants. Now I don't even want to leave my cozy little hole.
Since DS was born I cannot believe how I barely care about the plants. (As compared...I mean I'm still way too crazy about them, (maybe it's the TTC crap)

Apricot ..we're here for you when you need us.

Hey ladies! Just wanted to report I got my beta early this AM...and... it was 500 (I'm 17dpo)!! I know that alone doesn't mean anything without the second number, but it's a darned sight better than 28 which is what I had the last time The beta base isn't working for some reason, but I found this article, and it made me happy- http://findarticles.com/p/articles/m.../ai_n16599521/ looks like my numbers are right in line with a viable pregnancy for now! Praying to see some doubling action on Wednesday! Anyway, hope ya'll have a fabulous week!!

Yay, Nanette! Interesting article, too
Go Nannette!! Grow baby grow!

Apricot - thinking about you, hope all is well.

So, we have had a really good week of DTD, and I was starting to feel like I could be ovulating, things were percolating and I definitely feel my ovaries. I took a $tree OPK to confirm and it was really super light, like not even close to being positive. WTH? I did have a ton of really great EWCM today (didn't have any before) so I'm going to test the next few days - hope to get DH to dtd tonight since we will be gone all day tomorrow and then Wed and Thu before we leave for FL Friday - hopefully I will ovulate somewhere in there!

I talked to the OB, the insurance company preauthed me for just about everything, chromosomal testing, factor V leiden, thrombophilia panel, antiphospholipid syndrome, but NOT MTHFR. ??? They said they didn't deem it necessary - ok... Kind of confused, but since the treatment for most of the other stuff is the same as MTHFR, I'm just going to hope and pray it's something fixable. I really really hope it's not translocation because we don't have the money for IVF and prescreened embryos, so we would more than likely just keep having m/c until one sticks if it's that.

Anyway, that is what is up here. Oh, and the RE won't get me in until Oct. 19th, and the OB won't test me until Aug. 23rd or later for the thrombo panel and all that. We get back Aug 23, so I'll just go in for the testing as soon as we get back.

Ultrasound at 8:15 tomorrow.

Congrats, Jennifer and Nanette!

kalamos - if your homecysteine levels are good, mthfr is not usually an issue. They may test that instead. Perhaps?
