Have you ever gone to the bathroom while holding your baby?

Have you ever gone to the bathroom while holding/wearing your baby? I'm curious. I've only had to do this maybe twice with each child because they were in an extremely sensitive stage and would have flipped out if I'd have put them down.

Just curious. I hope you all don't think I'm a weirdo

I did once with DS. It was easy for me though... Just point and shoot.

All the time. I hope you don't think I'm a weirdo for answering

My kid is extremely mobile and I have 3 other kids. The bathroom is pretty baby-proof, but sometimes it just ain't.

I'll put him down for a minute, but often have to pick him up again. And he loves the bathtub, and can climb the step stool if it is close enough and try to get in

So yeah, it seems the easiest option, often.

I think it is easier when you can sit.

uh, yeah. i do it all the time. because...
1) i wear him out in the moby wrap most days,
2) we go places and i inevitably have to pee, and
3) i can't exactly set him down on a dirty bathroom floor.

it's not exactly fun, especially since i also have my 4 year old daughter in the crowded stall with me.

but ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

the once in a great while that i have someone with me, my husband, my mom, and i can actually go to a public bathroom all alone, are a great thrill to me. i feel so lightweight and free.

i'm not kidding.

and, yes, i have many times used the toilet whilest holding baby at home too. but at least here i can usually set him down on the floor. or ask DD to entertain him for a minute so i can have a moment of peace.

I had an extremely high-needs baby who would totally flip out if I put her down and I'd have to spend the next hour calming her back down again so until she was about eight months old, I NEVER went to the bathroom without holding her

and yeah, like ElliesMomma, is in the public bathroom. I wasn't thinking about all the times he's in the carrier or on my back, too.

Oh goodness I wasn't even counting the public restrooms! totally forgot about that.

Well, glad I'm not weird

yes, frequently..but last night was the first time in a public restroom at a baseball game! and I wasn't even wearing him in a carrier..I don't know how I pulled it off either, I didn't even sit.

More often than not I have the baby in a carrier when I go to the bathroom.

I figured it was just part of babywearing...

ooooooooh i can so relate to that.... except mine didnt stop till she was 5. it became such a big part of our routine that we later started having discourses while on the potty.

if i saw her pull out her stepping stool and sit down while i was on the potty... i knew i was in trouble.

we have talked about god, death, good vs bad, birth, right and wrong - all on the potty.

Yep, whenever she's in a carrier.

It takes skill to pull your pants up with one hand. I've done it once or twice.

Yep. All part of baby wearing. DS is high needs but now he's 1 if I pick my time I can go solo. And his dad has had to lots too. I'm hoping it will help him when it comes to toilet training?

on a couple of occasions at home yes (but more often, I set him on the floor)

In public: this is a very good reason to have a stroller handy. On one occasion I did not, I set the changing pad on the floor, and the baby on the changing pad. and scrubbed it later! Thankfully DS was at the sitting but not mobile stage.

many, many times

Yup. Though I have also definetly learned to just set him on the floor... is it gross? Yes, probably so. But ya know, sometimes it just won't work... I do love walmart's bathrooms w/ the little kid seat though!! SOO handy!!

yup. My toddler actually climbs into my lap sometimes now too. she also wants to help me wipe (yeah, thats a boundary I'm not interested in crossing... ) and she likes to copy me sitting on her potty even though she isn't ready to PL yet haha.

I'm a firm 'close the bathroom door, spouse doesn't see me on the toilet' person so its annoying having to leave it open for kiddo. At least our house is set up nicely enough that its easy for my husband to avoid the bathroom when I'm in it!

Yes.

for sure.

i actually make a point of taking her in with me. i figure it can't hurt for future potty training. i've seen so many little kids too scared of the potty to go on it and i've changed so many 3 year old diapers that i'm a little obsessed getting it done right.
