French Bull Dog

Ok, so we have our new puppy. She is now 5 mos old, we've had her about 6 weeks. What type of food does your FBD eat? I didn't realize how 'gassy' she was going be. "Charlie" (female) is on California Natural topped with either plain yougart and blueberries or pumpkin. This is the best she has been. California Naturals is pretty much grain free. Per the 'experts' we are to stay away from chicken, grains and things like that...

HELP... while the cost of CN is $$ I dont want to keep switching her food.... any thoughts, insight, ideas?

Most bulldog types are naturally gassy. Its just the breed. I assume she's on California Natural Lamb and Rice Puppy? What else have you tried? Knowing what hasn't worked might help determine what might work. Have you tried adding a probiotic besides the yogurt? Have you tried no yogurt? My dog gets a probiotic in her food, but if I give too much I notice it makes her gassy.

SHe is just on the lamb and rice regular (calif.nat). Our dog came home on reg. adult food and that is what everyone said to keep her on. I've tried no yougart and I get a very firm 'nose up' from the pup LOL. I usually do yougart and berries in the AM then pumpkin in the PM. The doggie expert at one of those doggie boutique health stores was verry helpful and I love her to death for getting us headed in the right direction.

She was on a variety of 'reg store' type dog food. My roommate has a berner and that dog has a cast iron tummy.
Some brandds: Chef Michaels, Avoderm (sp), Earthblend(sent home with), kibbles and bits.

Charlie has been on the CN for about a month now and its working well. Im just wondering if the gas is all breed, part breed and part puppy, or still due to the food.

check the ingredients in the food; my frenchie got a thousand times less stinky after we got all the corn out of his diet.

They are just really prone to smelly, though. Get all processed meats out of her diet, if you can. A good quality kibble, or raw if you can hang with that.

My dog gets yogurt too, and sometimes plain rice. We don't do pumpkin or berries, which I'd imagine would make him incredibly stinky.

Dogs don't need stuff like pumpkin; i'd cut that out.

Don't have a frenchie but I do have a pug. Our dogs on a raw diet of raw meaty bones. Best health he has been in and he is no longer overwieght like he was.
