Labour and SPD/ pelvic pain

Any tips or advice around labouring when you have SPD or major pelvic pain?

I guess what makes it more difficult is that I am being induced, rather than going into labour naturally, but I'm honestly questionning how I will accomplish anything in labour when it hurts so much just to walk around! My midwife has suggested an epidural, which is looking more appealing, but I don't want to go in thinking that!

I had SPD - couldn't roll over in bed, get out of cars, lift one leg to get in jeans And DH had to tie my sneakers up for a few months.. etc. It's brutal. Had a great chiro but to no avail. That said, I had an AWESOME labour. Spent the first part in the shower and the next in the pool (was lucky enough to be homebirthing). My understanding of SPD was that the pubic symphysis joint was very loose and unstable which is actually good when it finally comes to getting a big bub out a tight spot (DS was 8.5lb). It was my first birth so not sure if it hurt more or less than it would have without SPD but I didn't at any point feel I needed pain relief, although I guess you expect labour to hurt some After the birth I was sore for a few weeks but again not sure if it was increased by SPD or not but it was no where near as bad as it was before the birth. KWYM about it hurting to walk - I found some relief floating in the pool and the only exercise I could do in the end was arms only lap swimming. oh yeah was on all fours for most of labour (towel on shower floor) doing hip rocks. This helped alot before the birth too.
Good luck - giving birth is for sure the best part of being pregnant!!
