<looks around>

Isn't it about time for a new Dingo thread? Why yes, it is!

Editing to add: What are the dingos? We're mamas who run, or who want to run - from Couch to 5K all the way up to ultras. Lots of other dingo activity happens too ... triathlons, cycling, swimming, gardening, kid-chasting, partner-discussing, and sometimes crosstraining.

Dr. Jen is usually our race list keeper... you can PM her to be added to the race list.

Go run now!

Hey Ladies!

bec, holy impressive with the biking. Ow, is how that feels to me.

Just getting the kids showered and ready for the Y where I will welcome my new shoes to my life. Dh is back, has had a pretty positive re-entry this time, and I am still waiting for that downtime that keeps getting promised me. I have a week of afternoon meetings, looks like rain (yes, again--bright side is we have not had to water a garden at all this summer), and cukes are ready to begin the season of pickling. Imagine tomatoes will start next week.

Finding a thousand bright sides to the trip postponement, meantime. Also, looks like I will get to do school shopping ALONE this week.

Have a great day, Dingoes.

Howdy, Dingos!!

So, I ran this morning!

Only about 30 minutes, with walk breaks. A nice start after a few weeks off. The ankle and foot were both fine, but it's so humid out! Yuck.

I'm deep in homeschooling planning this week, and hoping to stay optimistic. We're going for "a lot more organized" this year.

I am planning on ordering a new laptop soon (next six months) and I need ipod opinions! Touch? Classic? We can get the 160G classic for $50, but part of me really wants the touch!
I am trying to figure out which will get the most use. I want it for audio books for DD and podcasts, but are there any apps that kids could use? Hmm...

My non-workout shirt is suffereing from stinky base layer syndrome. I hope oxyxlean helps it out.

FM: weights at the gym.

school starts Aug 11, soccer and xcountry officially start today.

AshCav, are you still doing NROLW?

Hello everybody!

I have so missed my Dingo friends.

Just spent the week visiting my mom and sister - and now, we are back at home, waiting for DH and DD to arrive tonight. I can't wait!

I will try to read and catch up today....

hi mamas.

I just made "the appointment" for my dog tomorrow morning. And then followed up with three hours of child care so that I don't have to deal with my non understanding family until I am ready. Oldest: When we put Hunter to sleep I'll be kind of glad because he won't stink up the house anymore. Youngest takes her cues from oldest. I'm raising monsters. Clearly.

Awww, Kerc.

Oh Kerc -

Jooj - on finding the bright side! Here's some for the downtime

to everyone else

I just dont have time or space in my brain for more personals. I am trying to take a breather here from the onslought of prep for our departure this afternoon. So far this morning I have packed everyone's clothes, and just went on a last minute shopping trip of Walgreens (for my meds, toothbrushes and hairbrushes and gum ), Borders (books for me and dd1 that didnt come back to the library before today), True Value (D batteries, ant poison - to keep 'em under control in our absence), and REI (rain jacket for me - so cute - b/c mine is inexplicably missing, wool socks for dd2 - so little and cute ... and practical of course , and some more stuff that I wont mention - apparently shopping with three crazy kids makes you spend a lot more than you intended/not take the time to contemplate the "need" of all your purchases as you normally would ) Dh is at work until 4, when he returns to hop in the car and off we go, so it is up to me to get all the last minute packing done and get everything into the car. We are car camping, backpacking, and visiting parents, so a lot of stuff to remember! Whew, and of course I slept like a rock last night (NOT).

FM: I am bringing my running shoes and clothes in hopes of doing some short run/walks - I'll see how my knee does, maybe Ill just do some isometrics/plyometrics on my walks. In any case, we return the day before the kids start school (they start the 16th) so Id like to have a little FM under my belt before that wagon officially pulls up at my house

kerc. They're not monsters. I'm glad you'll have time to yourself after your appointment, though. I'm so sorry about the loss of your beloved pet.

No FM for me today, but I did have this revelation: Weeding.... is like declutttering the garden. Profound, no? I spent several hours decluttering in the garden coming up with that one. And watching some guy do hill repeats on my really, really long hill. He was kicking some serious ass.

I can't decide if it's worth leaving my air-conditioned house with my two children to go buy mulch. Otherwise I can stay home and clean. It's like the Sophie's Choice of boring suburbia.

kerc. I agree, they're not monsters, but they may need some help from Erik to understand what not to say to mommy for the next several days.

kerc, my kids are much more practical about death than I am.

kerc I'm sorry

I think we're living the same life!

bec ~ amazing job on the bike yesterday . I'm seriously impressed.

sparkle ~ have a great trip!

Mel ~ welcome home

School begins here on the 18th, with meet-the-teacher on the 17th. I'm in denial right now, but will have to get my booty over to Target sometime between now and then to get all the school supplies . I'm not buying any clothes until it's officially not summer anymore.

Both DDs to swim lessons this morning, DS to diving camp . Will swim tonight with the tri club.

I'll join! Just getting back into running after YEARS! I started the c25k...pretty easy so far, but I'm still on w1...light jogging on my rest days as I'm just luxuriating in the alone time it affords me!!!

We're carless, so I bike or walk everywhere, so hopefully that will help me in the coming weeks. There is a 5k in Oct. I'd like to run.

Kerc - I'm so sorry you are having to say goodbye to your dear friend tomorrow. Your kids aren't monsters. Maybe your oldest is having a hard time processing life without this family member, so is trying to act like it doesn't matter? I'm sure it will hit home. I'm glad you are getting some space though tomorrow, so you don't have to deal with that.

to the new Dingoes!!!! The more, the merrier.

They may or may not have gotten that "at least it won't stink" bit from their father, dog-nonlover.

Thanks for the love, friends. He's really sick today so it is good, but still a bit hard to remember life in Duluth without a trail-dog.

On a brighter note: Leah has her first soccer game tonight. What could be cuter than 4-5 year old soccer?
