From 0-6 weeks, I gained 10 pounds. From 6-12 weeks, I gained 2 pounds. I just weighed myself last night on my bathroom scale- I'm 15 1/2 weeks and lost 8 pounds in the last three weeks? I weighed myself on the same scale each time. I'm not nauseous or throwing up or anything. I'm not exercising. When I was pregnant with my son, I gained 80 pounds during the entire pregnancy- nothing but constant weight gain. The women in my family tend to gain and gain and gain when pregnant. I thought I'd been gaining as well- I actually "look" bigger in the belly and boob area, but instead, I lost 8 pounds. Is this normal?

how often are you weighing yourself?? because I have noticed that, although overall I am gaining weight (slowly), I have HUGE swings in weight throughout the day and also from one day to the next. I think it's more about how much water I'm drinking and whether or not I've had a bowel movement that day.
I mean, I just recently bought a scale for the first time in my adult life, so for the first few days I was just super curious about my weight, and sometimes my weight will vary 5 or more pounds in a day. And some mornings I weigh myself and I'm up, like, 5 or 6 pounds seemingly overnight, only for that additional weight to vanish throughout the day. Although I always drink my 64-100 oz of water a day, somedays I'm just thirstier, or somedays I've been sweating (I'm in Florida) more than others...I dunno.
I don't worry too much about any one particular weight measurement, and concentrate more on the average weight trajectory. I haven't had much nausea, and even during the worst of my food aversions, I was still eating a fair amount - and I've lost weight since finding out I'm pregnant. I credit my improved diet (more fruit, less junk), and that I've cut out alcohol (I used to have a beer or a glass or two of wine at least a couple of times a week).

Are you eating enough? And were you very overweight before? If you are very overweight or obese, sometimes you will lose weight during pregnancy because that's just what can happen. But if you started out close to an average weight, I'd suspect you might not be eating enough. I know money is a problem for you, but are you on WIC? Are there food pantries in your area?

I am in the same situation, except I'm not losing weight; I'm just at a stand-still while my weight adjusts (from my hips/butt to my baby, apparently!). I gained 40/42 lbs with my first two (girls) at a steady rate. This time, it's fluctuating (gain 5, stall, gain 10, stall...reminds me of puberty growth spurts). Odd, because I was very overweight (officially obese after the birth of #2) but I'm much healthier this go around (still overweight, but not nearly so).
If you are overweight already, eating well, hydrated, and feel good/all other things are good, I'd say you're doing okay. Ask your doc/midwife if you are really concerned. (Note: my MIL lost 20 lbs with both her boys, but she was overweight too. They were all fine.)

I wasn't overweight, per se, before I got pregnant, but I did weigh about 30 pounds more than I should have. I was actually in the middle of a diet and had just lost 50 pounds even, before I got pregnant, lol. I'm also showing so much less with this one- with my son, by 16 weeks, I could have easily passed for 7 months, and by 20 weeks with my son, I was was hearing regular comments from people about "being due any day now"... but this one... I can still hide it with the right clothes to hold it in, still pass for period bloat. Someone mentioned above not eating enough- I think I am. I'm on WIC, plus the baby's father is MIA (good riddance!), but my soon-to-be-exHusband is checking in on me every couple days, making sure I have groceries, etc. I'm eating more than I was when I was dieting and I'm certainly eating mostly healthy, that's why I'm perplexed that I'm losing weight- another 2 pounds this week, bringing the total down to 10 pounds. I just don't want anything to happen to the baby. I have an OB appointment on the 12th, I will be asking my OB about the weight loss and a couple other concerns as well.
