Already August on the Allergy forum?! (chat thread) - Page 2

Forgot one more thing....

Dr. K's book also mentions inflammation being a cause of poor thyroid uptake by the cells.

That is certainly a factor with me and my high CRP. He recs SOD transdermal cream (which is probably only avail thru him) and a few other things I'll be looking into.

Yes, bromine is worse, and one that cause major symptoms when stored by the body and also when detoxed by iodine, but both can effect the thyroid.
Happy birthday? And congrats!!

Sing it, sister. eta: Had a major increase in thyroid symptoms after starting a VERY small amount of iodine and had to stop iodine and then have increased TRH by about 3/4 grain since then. le sigh

I got the 'Simple Abundance' book and really like it. I like reading books now that make me feel peaceful for a break between the books which can make me stressed out about my or DS's state of health!

and congrats, whichever you need at the moment. Seems like a hard step, but also a necessary one to move forward. You've seemed bogged down, stuck in a really stressful, tough place, I hope that lets up some as things are settled.

I take about 200.

Oh good, I'm glad you're enjoying it. This fall I am going to put in some major work simplying our house, getting things more organized, less visual clutter, 'a place for everything and everything in its place' type of thing. I've started a little bit, but in September I plan to get a bit more organized about it. For now, just surviving the summer travel and heat.

What's the full name of the book? I can't seem to find it on Amazon.

Yeah, reading that sounds like I served the final papers, but no just the beginning of the court case unfortunately. Sigh. I wish it was done. We tried mediation for a long time and it didn't work.

I still really hope we can negotiate a deal ourselves with attorneys for each of us involved in order to provide the accountability that wasn't there in mediation. That is the typical next step. Only 10% of divorces go to trial.

I would have given him most everything he wanted in mediation if he stuck with the agreements we made, but alas that just couldn't happen... he either claimed he never made the agreements or just ignored them. Mediators have no teeth to enforce anything. Also I think he just wanted to stall and keep the status quo, so perhaps that is why he wasn't motivated to negotiate.

I've been extremely lucky. I'm being represented pro bono b/c our incomes are vastly different, and there has been financial abuse. And b/c my case involves a child with life threatening allergy.

We have a hearing scheduled in a few weeks to determine temporary orders for support and then I will prepare to move out. Wish me luck and send protective vibes until then!

Totally! Both are very appropriate, thank you! I feel really good and strong about it actually. It was good that it took so long to play out b/c I really was able to prepare myself and deal with the emotions. And plan for future. That book rec really couldn't have come at a better time as I prepare for a new life and new nest to live in.

I understood it's not over yet, but often times the first step of a journey is the hardest. I will be here to cheer you on every step of the way.

Oh honey, how stressful. Sending vibes your way. If you ever find yourself needing a place to stay for even a short time, we have an empty bedroom.

I still have a headache. And playgroups are always a bit stressful, well, the potluck-style ones. My kids will eat what I bring, but how much of the other stuff can they eat? I may put something aside for them in case it runs long.

I hate headaches. And I got very little done today, though I think I decimated the mosquito colony. Bwahahahahahaha... my one accomplishment, plus grocery shopping. And I want to watch Dexter, but it is SO not child-appropriate (about a serial killer, for those not familiar with it).

Do people have reactions to them? Because I know that my father doesn't use cholorine. That's the pool I was just in (2 flips into the pool maybe 15 minutes swimming) and then 3 days of back spasms. I thought maybe it was my minor exercise. Are you saying it could be what he uses in it? Drat.

Heck, having a support group of recovering-sickies, it's a given!
I just feel like any of the things that I'm considering (tamoxifen plus MRIs/mammograms Or prophylactic mastectomies aren't necessarily "natural" so I figured I couldn't really talk about it here). I kind of feel like I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. DH said yesterday that maybe my back spasms were from increased stress....

I'm considering adrenal cortex extract b/c I'm sure my Neuroscience reports are going to come back low. Also there is licorace, ashgawanda, and a few other herbal adrenal support I just talked about (wrote down and promptly forgot it!) The RD was worried I would be trying T3 and not be able to handle it b/c of my adrenals.

The home test for aldosterone indicated a problem (flashlight pupil test). I've been mostly remembering my salt water first thing in AM and do better with this.
From the saliva test, I have an adrenal problem, but I still keep wondering about my thyroid too even though my numbers were "normal".

Happy Birthday! And congratulations and hugs on the serving milestone. You've been in flux for a while, so it seems like a step in the right direction, even though it's never an easy one.

I thought I was quoting from the old thread too, but it didn't work, so I have to go back and see what I missed!

QUOTE=whoMe;15689631]Tuna macaroni salad. Yum. Is it basically tuna salad plus noodles?
There's talk in TF land about adding whey to homemade mayo to make it a bit probiotic and keep longer. If you could find a tasty ferment juice, that could extend the life a bit. [/quote]

tuna macaroni salad: rice noodles, mayo, zucchini relish (my mother made it), a little vinegar, onions, celery, tuna in oil, sea salt, pepper. Oooh, I wonder if a little sauerkraut juice would do it.... I think it's the egg yolks that keep it from staying good for very long.

I planted a stevia plant a few weeks ago, and just today tasted a leaf. So much fun! Now I want to make a mojito from the yard...
I do them in the blender so I don't have to "muddle" the mint. Yum.

You guys help just by being here. I've been researching a lot of stuff to try to make a decision. But I still feel sort of paralyzed by it. I wish someone could make a decision for me but it's one of those got-to-do-it-myself kind of decisions. But at least you guys aren't bashing me for thinking of non-natural solutions. That's what I was mostly worried about. That you guys were going to shun me and yell at me for even considering such a thing.

Never ever!! All of us have BTDT (well... meaning being between a rock and hard place) and completely understand.

Yes, these can effect clogged detox pathways for sure. Will she eat a lot of sea salt and/or drink salted liquid?
QUOTE]

I could probably salt her food really well...I've wondered about this because she gets slight rings around her eyes the day after swimming. I know her detox is easily overwhelmed. I tried to give her methyl b12 last summer and it really messed her up--she wasn't able to process it? I can't remember if I decided she is an overmethylator or undermethylator...hmm...I'll have to figure this out again. I really want to do yasko's testing on her and will someday, but for now we're paying for baby...

I got really messed up on the iodine too. My adrenals tanked. I never had an issue with thyodine (sp?).
