WooHoo! Doing a happy dance! I FINALLY managed to talk to someone about my FS. She spent 30 min on the phone with me checking my paperwork. I got lost in the system somehow and my case was closed!!! She is sending me a couple things to sign & even gave me her fax # to get it back faster. She is reopening my case and will get me the FS I didn't get for Aug and then Sept's with the baby added on!

I am so stressed about money right now. Atleast I know that we can eat for awhile. Not sure how long we will be able to pay rent, but atleast we can eat

Here's hoping September is better for us all!!!!

It's now been a month since I applied for medicaid for DD and myself - still nothing. I've called my caseworker, the regional office, and the supervisor. NOTHING and no returned calls. I have no income, it was supposed to be automatic for DD for sure. I was given a letter saying DD was eligible as of 8/2 when I applied.

Tomorrow after I get done with DD's school work I'm going down to DHS and throwing a fit until I find out WHY it hasn't been processed.

DD needs her 4yo checkup, to get her eyes checked and a dental checkup. I need prescriptions for medications that I just can't afford anymore.

Oh, and now that I have a new home and internet service again, I am going to be a guide for ChaCha (answering random questions people send in and getting paid for it, rock on!) You have to accrue $150 before you can get a direct deposit which averages out to answering about 50 questions a day. Anyone want a referral, PM me and I will send you one.

Plus, a friend of mine is thinking about leaving her husband and might be needing a nanny for her 10-month old son five days a week. It wouldn't be a lot, but maybe $60-75 a week. We'll see

Welcome back! How does being a ChaCha guide work?
I work for ChaCha too and let me tell you. Some months the traffic is SO slow that you literally won't make the $150 without working non stop every single day. I have lost all motivation working with them but have made $700 since March. Traffic was the worst I have ever seen it the month of August so here is to hoping Sept. is better. Good luck!! BTW if anyone wants info about ChaCha just PM me. I will help ya

I finally got my accepted paper for college, financial aid all done, now go tomorrow to take placement test. I am going to have to scrap up the $7 I need to pay for it but oh well. I still need to take care of the medical and FS that was cancelled but going to wait since the town is 30 min away and I have a WIC appt there next week. ALot of bills due next week no idea how I can pay them.

Frugalmama are the income requirements low for medicaid in your state? I have 2 wisdom teeth that I desperately need removed and I need my yearly gyno exam (i didnt go to my 6w with the twins because my dissapointing surro parents wouldn't pay the $50 copay) but the limit for adult medicaid here is like $400 a month....ugh. I only make about $900 a month for a "family" of 4 and can soooo not afford health/dental ins.

Oh my financial aid got disbursed today to the school! I signed up for direct deposit, as long as it is approved by thurs it will be DD then, if not they will mail a check, but either way my money is on the way! WOOOOOOHOOOOOO!

very very low - it's Texas. You basically have to have no income and minor children to qualify. They don't cover dental either - I've got about 8 teeth that desperately need pulled because the enamel is so bad, but I can't afford even the dental school.

You might try on the yearly gyno seeing if your state has a "Well Woman" program {it's called a lot of different names} as it covers a yearly visit, birth control {if you want it}, and some health check like diabetes, thyroid, etc. Not much but it is much easier to qualify for. If not can you try a Planned Parenthood clinic? Here they charge a sliding scale and students are free - might be worth trying. I'm big on making sure to get the annual check for women at least.

Here's to that sentiment! I feel the same way. We can eat like kings, but will I have the power on when we do?

I do this like every 3 months. Every.single.time a recert comes around (my FS and childcare are somehow off on schedules) my case worker screws it up royally. It's exhausting but if you just show up it makes a point.

I have the same problem. At least I was able to pay the rent AND electric today. Otherwise, electricity would be off tomorrow.

Oklahoma does something similar to this, so I am sure most states do. Oklahoma covers dental for the kids, but not for adults. I have like 8 cavities since I haven't been able to go to the dentist in 4 years and a couple are from even then (I was pregnant and they refused to fill them).

For student mamas who are in need of health care: I recently found out that my student fees cover Dr appointments (including gyno appts) at our school health clinic.. and if you need outside appointments, they can give you a referral... maybe you can look into that and see if your school has something like that?
Ianthe, my school has $10 appointments on campus. They aren't free, but goodness, they are cheap. When I lose insurance in a month from this divorce, they will be my only safety net other than the health dept and free clinics.

Basically, people text message questions about ANYTHING they want to ChaCha and you answer them. You get paid per question. You can pick the categories of questions you will answer. If you are interested, please, let me refer you.

Well, I got a call today from the woman who needs a nanny and I am interviewing with her on Friday. I thought about it more and I really think I am going to go with that job. I would really LOVE to work for the other natural parenting company, but the nanny job will be so much more flexible, and I will have two days a week when DS will go to school and I will be at home. I can still search for more appropriate work and really take my time to find exactly what I want. I can also do things like go to doctor's/therapist appointments, clean my house and maybe even take a child-free break!

We don't even HAVE planned parenthood here lol....i live in a very small rural south ga town. I know the health dept does paps and BC, but they will only do the pap if you get one to get BC (I have an implanon) and you have to go in person at 7am monday to make an appt, and the appt is 6 months out. There is no funding for them...and wic is a nightmare (done at the same place) the wait for your wic appt is about 3-4 hours from your appt tiem(with 2 screaming kids)

I am so ill. All those giftcards I was giving away got cancelled! They wont even bother to tell me why! I got them from the Plum District deal the other day, and they have now locked me out of my account and won't respond to my help tickets. Sorry to the 2 mamas I gave them to already. I am super bummed....They also cancelled the other one I got for another deal last week. I had already placed my order and they cancelled my order too...

I will never reccommend that site again!

Wah Hoo! I think I have a job! The woman from the natural parenting company called me and said that they want me part time!! I will make a decent wage for a good company and they also said that the could possibly keep the right person on after the holiday rush. I have an interview tomorrow afternoon and am soooooo crossing my fingers! I actually have two interviews tomorrow, so I am pretty sure I will be employed by next week!

Does anyone know what you do about unemployment when you find a job? I am still waiting to hear about whether I will receive UE or not. If I get a job, does all of that $$ just go away? Or do I still get it, even though I will now have a job? I am behind on all of my bills from not having income for almost a month now, and it is going to take quite a while to play catch up once I do have a job. So hoping that I still get the backpay from UE.
