Sticky Baby Anyone?

I'm struggling a little with some of the lingo here. What is a "sticky baby"? I did figure out EDD = Estimated Due Date and BFP = positive pregnancy test.

It just means hoping it'll stick around and be a healthy pregnancy/baby (i.e., not a miscarriage).

* How long it took to you to get your BFP: This pregnancy was a HUGE surprise (I was on birth control and apparently the chance of pregnancy was 1-2% per year...) but we're now happy about it

* Family (partner, other children, and/or furbabies): DP, DD(6), DS(3)
* Baby's gender (hopes or guesses): I'm happy with either, but my partner would prefer a boy as it's his first baby
* Names you like (& are willing to share): Not quite there yet
* Birth plans/preferences: Aiming for a home birth for this baby. Last labour was only 3hrs and I was rushed to hospital via ambulance, midwife at a different hospital so delivered by OBGYN and no support person with me... would have been so much better at home, so that's the way I'm going this time.
* Anything else you'd like to share: As I mentioned above, this pregnancy was unplanned but we're now happy about it. Looking forward to meeting other Mums who are delivering in April 2011 also

Hi there,
After 2 MCs in just 4 months, I'm expecting again. I went today to have my HCG levels checked because every cramp, twinge or un-sore breasts have me freaking out....

But then I bought another pregnancy test and took it mid-day today, and the test line came up way before the control line, and it was super dark...I think it may actually stick this time!

So I'm hesitantly saying that my EDD is April 19th.

Which, by the way makes 4 children, whose birthday months will be APRIl, MAY, JUNE, and JULY . (Oh-and DH is August and I'm September!)

I am in desperate need of support, so please add me!

* Baby's gender (hopes or guesses): My heart longs for a baby girl-my daughter doesn't live with me, (she didn't want to move to Canada) so I missed out on so much female wisdom sharing. But a healthy boy will be a blessing too!
* Names you like (& are willing to share): I love Indigo Ruth, or Noah Allyne (because after my last mc I went outside to see (and photograph) a full arch rainbow from across the street to the field next to our house.

* Birth plans/preferences: I'd like an unassisted, but may also be fine with a midwife assisted at home. Waterbirth for sure either way. LOVED my last water/home birth
* Anything else you'd like to share: I am in need of female companionship, as I am very isolated here. I also have an illness which puts me out of commission for days at a time. (Balance disorder.) So someone to talk to who is parenting with a health challenge would be a blessing. I also have to be honest and say I am having very mixed feelings about this baby, since it wasn't my preference to have another-DH wanted another one, (only his second biological child), so I gave in...but there are mixed emotions related to this...

* Names you like (& are willing to share): Oh I LOVE the name picking. It's a whole process that starts before we even conceive. Nothing I'm ready to share, though, yet.
* Birth plans/preferences: Would be so happy to have another lovely homebirth w my same amazing midwives.
* Anything else you'd like to share: Hmm. DS was breech at term, turned him around successfully, so hoping THAT doesn't happen again. Both my mom and my sister are midwives which is both a blessing and a curse, especially my mom, sometimes I have to lay down boundaries there (although as soon as I do, she's very fine and respectful). Worried about being sick, sick, sick. I had awful preg. sickness for the first five months with DS. awful, awful. I really hope it's not as bad this time. Also hoping/trying not to gain too much weight!

* Baby's gender (hopes or guesses): I'll admit that I really want a girl, but so many of my friends have boys that are just awesome kids, so I'll be happy either way.
* Names you like (& are willing to share): I can't share yet, but I can give some hints. My mother died when I was 19, and she was 49. Her brother (my uncle) also died before reaching the age of 55. The names I like are tributes to them, although they are not their actual birth names.
* Birth plans/preferences: I'm the last among my friends to have a baby and I've read all the research and seen how each of them birthed their children and I've decided to have a hospital birth with pharmaceutical assistance if needed.
* Anything else you'd like to share: This has been something we've wanted for a while and we're very excited and hope it sticks!

* This was both a surprise as well as planned. Our first "try" was in early July, and it managed to take the first time. So two weeks later I've got a + to show for it. I was somehow shocked, even though it was what we were aiming for.
* This will be our second kid.
* I have a husband, a 5 year old son, and a couple of outdoor cats.
* I'm hoping for a girl
* I haven't thought about names yet, even though over the last 5 years I have come across so many that I thought were awesome. Of course I don't remember a single one of them now.
* We had a hospital birth with our first son. I have only researched my other options so far as noting that our insurance doesn't cover any midwives who practice outside of hospitals, no birth centers, etc. We will probably go with a birth center or home birth this time around, but no details yet.

*My name is Leigh. I see I am not the only one in this DDC.

*just moved from NYC to Durham NC

*was ovulating in the middle of the month for a while. Aimed to conceive mid-July, but had a really long June cycle and ovulated end of June. We stopped preventing after the assumed ovulation in June. (I felt like the cycle was strange and I wasn't sure if I had actually ovulated.) So, I tried to conceive for negative 2 weeks.

*I'm married. I have a DS who just turned 3. We lost our furbaby in the move. (He disappeared the night before we drove to the new place. My landlord has been watching for him, but he hasn't show up. But he was semi-wild and self-sufficient, so I am not worried about him surviving without us.)

*I have no idea what the gender is. I want one more boy. For some strange reason, I feel certain that once I have a girl they will all be girls from then on.

*If it is a boy, it is going to probably be Vladimir. I want Kazimir, but my husband thinks it is too western (as in Polish). If it is a girl, it will be Zorana. (Which he agrees to, even though it is Serbian and Serbia is directly below Poland, so equally west.)

*Planning a homebirth with minimal testing and intervention. Except the 20 week anatomical ultrasound. I want to delay cord cutting. No vitamin K or eye goop. No vaccines at all. Ever.

I have some fears of tongue tie. We had a bad case with DS (type 4...needed surgery to be able to nurse). In NY I knew who to go to. The leading doctor for tongue tie. Now I will have to research around here. As soon as I go into labor I want to make the appointment. Last time, DS had to wait until he was 5 days old. The first 3 days he was starving and we didn't know it. I had no pain while nursing, which is usually the first sign. When I realized he had nothing in his diaper for over 24 hours I freaked out and called a post partum doula. She said she thought he had tongue tie, and helped me to cup feed (formula, since i hadnt had enough stimulation to have my milk come in, and we couldn't get donated milk in time) and to pump like crazy to make my milk come in. This time, I am going to be prepared by borrowing donated milk and having a good pump at home and having the new baby checked immediately by an expert.
